Backup camera wireframe guidelines in latest update

After driving a rental with those green and red guidelines in the backup camera I was kinda jealous that my 2014 335i with PDC (which includes the backup camera) didn't have them.

Well I received a software update during my service visit this week and voila, suddenly now I have them! So if anybody else out there has the rear view camera and wants the guidelines, just figure out some excuse to bring it in for a software update (or wait for your next oil service). I'm still figuring out exactly how trustworthy/accurate the lines are, but so far I'm really liking them.

I've only found that they're useful to me maybe 1 out of 10 times, but during those instances, they're very handy to have.

Are you talking about those ?

Have them on MY2012 CIC unit, but possible to deactivate them (icons on the left).
Not avail on NBT without an update ??
Weird.

Didn't you have the option to choose to display them in your car? I thought that was the norm. (Lines, obstacle marking, brightness, etc.), No?

BTW, I find the pathway and turning circle guide lines pretty accurate in my 5-series. Use the turning lines for reveres parallel parking and keep the line just off the kerb, car is placed about 6" (150mm) off the kerb.

My 2013 has them. You probably had them disabled in the menu somewhere.

Huh, certainly possible although I've been over the various configuration settings quite a bit. Oh well, yay me!

Oh, I should add that I have no nav/tech. For whatever reason I always assumed you needed nav or the top-down feature to get the guide lines.

Yeah I think you guys are totally right and I've been missing out for the past 18 months. Must be some sort of functional blindness where I've been so focused on backing up I never noticed all the cute icons on the left that I could play with.
