Bay Area Shop Recommendations?

Anyone have a BMW/German specialist here in the Bay Area? Preferably in San Francisco? Also any muffler shops you'd recommend to do some work? Thanks!

What kind of work are you looking for?

As for muffler shops, Golden Auto at their downtown location does great work. Daly City is also good but are unlikely to work on BMW unless you have your own muffler system because they don't have the right piping size.

I was thinking about going the muffler mod. Where you open up the stock exhaust and put the packing material from the 2 outer chambers to the center and seal some of the holes in the pipes. Retains the stock sound but a bit deeper and also still smog legal.

That's going to be a DIY job. Most muffler shops won't do it for you cause it's not as clear cut and tedious.

I thought so too. Several guys on here had muffler shops do it. It really depends on the shop I suppose. Not too familiar with that stuff and want someone experienced to do that. Lol

EDGE Motorworks does great BMW work. They're located in Dublin, CA near Pleasanton.

Unfortunately not yet.

Have you done anything to you F30 335i? Just got the car not too long ago and wanted to listen to different set ups for research purposes before I mod it. Have a aFe catted downpipe coming. Wondering how it sounds in person.. heard it on youtube and it sounds pretty nice.. just need to do this muffler mod and should sound good to me! However, tough to find a shop that will do this. Let me know if you find anything!

That's a bit out of the way for me since I'm in San Francisco. Will keep that in mind though! Thanks!

hehe there are countless things I want to do, but still under warranty so hesitant. I did put a Jb4 and oem m sport front bumper + splitter.

Might throw in some DP and change the Charge pipe really soon.

Looking to stay as legal as possible (smog, etc) but ughhhh its tough.

I think the best shops tend to be outside of SF.

Edge is good. I would highly recommend Performance Technic, but they're in Fremont. Still, I travel from Oakland for performance part installation, etc. They're very good at what they do.

Same here.. argh.. Don't really want to do a JB4.. just want to do DP and maybe exhaust.. Charge Pipe too for safety sake. The both of us are screwed with the smog. Do you know if a catted dp will pass smog? lol I had high flow cats on my G35 and it passed smog. Wondering if it's the same situation with the F30.

I'll definitely look into them! Thanks Jinx! Do you know if they do the muffler mod/tamper with the muffler though?

I would give them a call. I'd be surprised if there's anything they can't do as they have built some of the craziest BMWs in the area, including a 1M clone.
