I have asked myself this question many times! There has to be some way of linking a touch sensitive panel and wiring it to wherever the front doors go to. But...like most things technical, probably too much of a hassle

Yes. This is the reason I had to change the idrive settings so the car doesn't lock by itself when I am driving.

Not sure I understand what's being asked here...when I open my car using comfort access, it opens all 4 doors. If you have your iDrive options set to open just the driver's door, then it will do only that. whether using the fob button or either of the front door handles. Mine is set for all 4 doors.

Regardless of which side the wall is on, wouldn't you be able to keep the key in your pocket and reach up to touch the front door handle? Just trying to understand the functional dropoff with not having CA on rear handles, since you're within reach of the front door.

BMW cheaped out on this one. Once you have it (S4), you notice NOT having it. Often want to toss something in the back first (briefcase, gym bag, etc.)

No not possible, in addition to having to run the wires, the CA module in the F30 only has inputs for two handles. Also you must realize it's not just the capacitive touch that's wires up, you also have antennas in each of the handles, and a sensor on the handle pull as touch turns off if you leave the car sitting too long. (Over a week) but wakes up with a handle pull. so it's not just 2 or 3 wires.
Also don't under estimate the wiring for instance the CA module on the E90 it is behind the right side trim panel in the trunk so you'd potentially running the wires though the whole car. |

Wow...modern problems, I guess. I remember having to use the key to open one of the doors manually, then reach in and unlock the others. How difficult is it to put your fingers around the front door handle to unlock the car - or, just press the unlock button on the fob? Guess some folks are just never satisfied.

for me the fob is usually buried away somewhere in my work bag since 95% of the time i never need to touch it with the comfort access.
and i can't access the passenger door handle which unlocks all the doors because its against the wall of my garage. and im' not sure if you can change teh drivers handle to unlock everything but i don't really want to always do that for the rare times i need to put something in the back seat Quote:
