Our new to us 2015 F31 325D M Sport

Been and collected it this lunchtime after another test drive and I read the codes whilst out & about and thankfully zero issues

Will collect the 18" alloys & winter tyres ASAP and then sell the 403Ms off; they've just been refurbed but a) I don't like them that much, b) not a fan of black wheels at all and c) the RFTs are shite

Parts already been ordered (OEM velour mats and M Sport grilles via Cotswolds BMW) and a full oil & filter change kit etc

The parts list will continue to grow haha

Winter Style 400s with Bridgestone winter tyres fitted collected this morning...

All cleaned as best they can be; brakes wire brushed and cleaned, calipers cleaned and winters fitted

All the 19s wheels had been windy-gunned on; had to break out the breaker bar to get the bolts undone

All refitted and torqued to spec with Liqui Moly ceramic paste

Can’t go wrong with the 400M as a winter wheel.
I had them on my 330d.

Cheers

I like their style and size TBH; may get another set and get them fully refurbed in Ferric Grey for summer tyres

That I don't know.

When I give it a thorough clean inside & out I'll double check

I really like the 403 wheel, refurbed in a nice bright silver there's not many wheels that look better on the F31. I was looking at getting a set for winter but ended up with 400's like you.
If they were mine I would keep the 403's, refurbish them, and put non run-flats on for summer.
Or you could swap them for my 400's

Could be a thought...

I'm just in the club of more sidewall/better comfort and better handling etc

19s do look good, but for me they're more form over function...

I think it sits well on 18s; deffo rides much better!

I have my winters on at the moment and they are definitely quieter and more comfortable, but do feel a bit squishy when pushing on.
Personally I think it handles better on the 19's on smooth surfaces but can be a bit skittish on rough but that's maybe the runflats.
When I had Bridgestone rf's on the back it was very twitchy but changing to Goodyears stopped that.
They most definitely looks better on them.

The Bridgestones do feel like they love to step out on chattery road surfaces or breaks mid corner but I don't find that to be true of all RFT's so it's a bit of an unfair accusation on RFT's as a whole; as an example Pirelli RFT winters don't do this and are a major improvement in ride and handling over the S001 RFT's. Personally I think the F31 is under-wheeled across the board but this becomes particularly noticeable on the 19's where the sidewalls are so rubber-band thin. I don't find this to be too much of a problem on average roads but on proper broken surfaces and potholes on rural roads it's definitely an issue as my recent £2.5k bill to highland council will attest!

It wasn't a global accusation at run-flats.
I should have made it clearer that the Goodyears were also run-flat.

Yeah; I agree re looks. But I don't like the rubber band thin sidewalls...

I drive up & down Cuerdale Lane to Samlesbury a lot, that road the roads off it are very poor and rarely looked after; just popping to my pals (where I train if not in my garage) to drop something off Friday afternoon was horrible... Tramlined all over the show

Repeated part of the run on the 18 winters and zero issues; took every bend, road camber and bump in their stride!

I don't think the 18s make the car look under wheeled at all; but again it's personal preference etc

I have a set of 18" 400M with square set up winter tyres, 225 all round. (Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4)
I prefer 19" staggered for summer, 225F and 255R on 704M's. I am running Godyear Eagle run flats which I think are good. I had Bridgestone run flats on my 2015 3 series which were noisy, but Goodyear are far better so don't right them off completely.

What are you going to do after winter, change the tyres or get a summer wheels and tyre set?

It's filthy, but this morning I gave the interior a full wipe down with APC and got into the nooks and crannies with the detailing brush; all glass cleaned with AGs Fast Glass and for now, my old F01 7 series floor mats are in (just fit) and will do their job until the new BMW ones land sometime later this week

In between rain showers I've snowfoamed the exterior, cleaned the wheel arch liners best I can and cleaned/treated the exterior glass and treated the tyres with Gyeon tyre gel

Snowfoamed

I won't be running RFTs; it's that simple

And yes; I'll run a separate set of alloys with summer tyres; have done for years now

Just need to decide on 18s or 19s and which ones; but quite like the Style 400s design, so may get another set and get them fully refurbed

Nav upgraded to the latest maps thanks to Rusty @ satnavupgrades

OEM M Sport gloss black grilles and interior mats landed from Cotswolds BMW too; got the mats fitted and all the leather cleaned down with Furniture Clinic leather cleaner & leather conditioner.

Seats have come up great, steering wheel much cleaner and less shiny too; but can see an email being sent to Jack at RSW very soon

Will get the grilles fitted as soon as I can

Lovely looking car and looking forward to what you do next. Grills look much better! Any M Performance bits planned beyond the splitter or is that not your thing?

Either way, lovely car, it looks like its had a good life and has fell into the hands of someone to carry that on.

Thanks

And no; I'll get the front splitter sorted when it goes into my pals bodyshop (both bumpers need respraying and some stone chips on the bonnet need sorting) and that'll do it

Did think about the side skirt decals, but prefer the cleaner looks

Get another set of Style 400s sorted for summer tyres and it'll do us nicely
