What do you mean by "missing basic features"? When you start it you first need to set up the connection type. Click the spanner icon top right, from the administration window that opens select "Vehicle Interface" tab and from there select enet local area network (if you use enet cable). Then click OK and back from main screen select "Operations" page and from there "New" and "Read out vehicle data", and click "Complete Identfication". If connection is succesful then your vin will appear, select that and continue.

If you already knew all that then tell us what is not like you expected it to be

Edit: I realized maybe you mean the "Basic Features" page under "Operations" / "New" is not working, but I am not sure why you feel you need that page. It is just for filtering the documents if you are not connecting to the car or you do not know its vin or model code.

If you don't know the model code of the car, enter its information to realoem.com and then see the "Type Code" information before you hit the "Browse Parts" button.
