Rear Windows

I'm two months in with my GT and find it a great car. I like it immensely more than my 3 sedan in almost all ways. Getting 32 mpg over first 3000 miles.
One "feature" I did not know of or expect was that the rear windows do not go all of the way down. I've not experienced that in any of my sedans or the 3er wagon I owned a few year back. My teenage sons find the inability to "hang" outside mildly annoying. Is this a feature that can be overriden somehow? Any thoughts appreciated.

Better annoyed than injured or dead. Hanging out of windows isn't just stupid, it's dangerous.

No, due to the shape of the door where it clears the wheel well.

Agreed. While I think the OP's son probably only does it while the car is stopped, it is still dangerous. Better safe than sorry!

Yes. While some frameless windows do go all the way down (my old Subaru), most I've seen don't. It is due to the design limitations as Billfitz said, not a software limit.

Thanks for the judgments on my parenting, guys. My 17 & 18 year olds are now chiding me for neglecting their personal safety. I'll re-engage the child locks now.

Lol. No judgment from me.. More tongue in cheek. But child locks and window locks are great for 17-18 yr olds ;-) reminds them of who's boss every now and then.

Honestly tho, sorry we can't change the windows. It's just there in the design. Just don't even let them open it! There's a button on the driver door for that! :P
