Quotes on M Performance Exhaust Upgrade and Rear Lip Spoiler

Thinking of getting these upgrades...can someone who has them done shed some light on pricing and how long it takes? I have a 328i xDrive.

Getting quoted ~$1,500 + HST (installed) for the exhaust...I'm willing to pay for the OEM exhaust but is this in line with what you guys paid? Trying to get clarity from dealer on how its broken down (part vs. labor). How long does it take?

Getting quoted for ~$800 + HST (installed) for the carbon fiber spoiler....would the contrast of carbon fiber and black sapphire metallic go well together? I don't want to paint over the carbon fiber....given it's just a lip spoiler should I go for replicas instead? If so, is it easy to install by myself? How long does it take to install by the dealer?

Any of these quotes negotiable?

Thanks!

I'd do the spoiler myself. You can get a really nice rep CF spoiler from one of the vendors for ~$350 CAD then just use some 3M double-sided tape to install it.

Not sure about the MPE but $1500 is steep for no performance gains.

Thanks for the reply. Do you know any good vendors? Not sure if I should go carbon fiber (given my car is black sapphire metallic) or go poly / painted to match my car.

To be honest I want the exhaust for the sound......not fussed about performance gains.

I bought one that was made by JB Speed. Also, RW Carbon (another vendor on here) makes them also. There is also the one from Bimmian (made by AutoCarbon I believe). They're all good products with exact fitment.

I'm actually about to order the AA exhaust from mike@xph, they're doing a GB price so it'll be $750USD shipped to Toronto.. add another ~$100 for install and you're still better off than the MPE.

As for CF vs painted... that's gonna be your personal preference. My car is mineral white so the CF looks good in contrast to the paint. I'm not sure about the black sapphire though.

the muffler without any discount is about $1200-1300. Labour at a dealer is 1.5 hours (~140/hr)

an outside muffler shop can install in 15-20 minutes for $50-150 depending what they feel like.

You should be able to get the 328i ///M perf. exhaust for ~$950 before taxes at GTA Dealers.

Install at BMW was only 45min. @ their regular rates.

Because service labour rates are where the money is made.

So i get that these are likely non-negotiable, but is it standard practice for them to charge me 2 hours for something that actually takes 45 mins? Anything I can do about it or is it just how it works

If I'm not mistaken, the parts will come with a guide/manual that quotes how many hours it will take to install the part. The dealer that I go to will always go by that guide (even though like you said, it will probably only take like 45 mins). I've read some posts where people have said that some dealers in the GTA will charge the actual amount of hours required to fit the part. Ymmv, I guess it depends on your relationship with the stealer.

I can only speak for the exhaust after I got it installed for $1146 taxes in. From a dealership in the GTA.

This is the M performance exhaust? I am getting quoted ~$1000 now for the part itself, not including taxes or labour. Mind if you flip me the contact details / dealership you got it from?

In the GVRD, everything is inflated!

Most dealers are willing to give me 10% off Parts & Labour (1.5hr Estimate.)

Though I'm sure that if you have a good relationship with the dealer, it's possible to push for bit more of a discount here. I wish I could get it installed $1146 taxes in!
