This is so true. I wonder what body roll on e90 sport suspension is like compared to m performance f30. Still great stance, reduced body roll and if you keep ride quality. Worth it

brandon, lol, those are the 397 18's with snow tires on them...they look like $hit with the huge sidewalls, I know, but 17's, come on man!

and yes retaining ride quality is a PLUS with this system...

haha well I was sure they were 18"s but I was thrown off by your comment about how the 18" M-Sport wheels will be filling up the wheel wells nicely

Did you go from base non sport susp to M Perf?
If so ride height should drop by 20mm or about .8"
Sport susp/M sport is a 10mm drop from stock. M Perf is a 10mm drop from sport/Msport.
Your overall measurement from floor to wheel arch lip looks to be about .8".

But something is strange with your measurement.
In the first photo, from the ground to the top of the tire is about 25". On the next photo, sideways, from the ground to the top of the tire is around 25.5".
But, that measurement shouldn't change even with a spring change as you're still only measuring from the ground to the top of the tire.
The only way that measurement can change is if you have a different overall diameter whee/tire setup or you changed the inflation pressure. Maybe the point on the floor wasn't flat between the two measurements?

After a change to a lower spring the only change should be the body's ride height. So you measure from the same ground point to the same point on the body like the edge of the wheel arch.

Ride height looks to be around .8" lower, which is what is should be going from the base susp spring to the M Perf spring.
10mm is only about .4"
Tire gap to wheel arch lip seems to have shrunk by .25" that's nice.

Yet still there is something strange with your measurement judging from the difference between the two shots from the floor to the top of the tire. That measurement should be the same.
Did you notice this too while measuring? If so do you know what happened? Just curious.

I started out with the sportline suspension and retrofitted the M performance suspension. The car came with 18" wheels and the 'just ok' goodyear all-season tires..

i think i know what you mean about the measurements being a little odd... very possible the metal tape measure was not completely straight in the second pic i posted. i will try to get a side-by-side pic of my car next to a stock sportline at my dealership when i go visit in the next week or so.

btw. i want to give props to Malek of MRF Engineering for an excellent job on my wheel alignment. He is a very skilled professional. He Will.Fix.Your.Car. Thanks. i only wish his shop was closer to my location.. anyway, he is worth the drive.

M-Sport Suspension to M Performance

Been following this thread since I got into my 335i M-Sport 6MT in mid December '12.

I've been patiently waiting to hear good news from those of you that took the early leap. Thank you BTW - I am definitely learning from your experiences.

Looks like I might be the first to go from M-Sport suspension to M Performance. Personally, I think the ride height of the M-Sport is just about right with the 19" 403s and am mainly interested in improved handling.

Will post complete before and after pix for those of you that are interested.

That's what's I'm doing. Performance suspension goes on Saturday. Hope there's a marked improvement. Wonder if anyone will buy my msport take-offs

Congrats james!

Did what someone on this thread suggested and searched for ETK. Found the following link which allows you to log in to the BMW aftersales assistance portal (ASAP).

http://www.bmw.com/com/en/owners/acc...catalogue.html

I entered my VIN info and searched through the springs table under "specific parts search" and came up with the correct part numbers for the M performance springs needed for my car. From how the configurator works, there are different part numbers depending on several factors, not just transmission type. I suspect it has to do with overall vehicle weight and the spring rates necessary.

For my 6MT F30 with all but the Driver Assistance Plus, Dynamic Handling and Adaptive M Suspension, the correct part numbers are:

M Performance Suspension Kit: 33502320981
Front Springs: 31336860630
Rear Springs: 33536860621

Seems like dealers should have this info by now and a lot of the confusion came from online stores posting inaccurate info. Hopefully this won't be an issue going forward.

James - would like to get your impressions once yours is done and would also like to know how much you paid in labor. I'm still talking my dealer down - they want $180/hr and are estimating 7 for the install. Absurd if you ask me.

Does anyone know if the m performance kit can be installed on a 335 x drive m sport model with adaptive suspension? There was a thread on this site that stated the m adaptive suspension cars would not be compatible. ..

While we wait for james to post on his new M Performance suspension, I have uploaded pix of my M-Sport BEFORE mods.

James - hope things are going well with your install.

Photos and review

Installed and home.

The photos include the brakes kit install with challenge braided steel brakes lines. They show the performance suspension as well. The last photos are of the cars stance on the suspension. Sorry i forgot to get before photos but the suspension is definitely lower than just the msport.

Guys, this is the way the handling should feel. It's tight with no very little body roll. Maybe a little more firmness than previously with the stock msport but I'm very pleased. It's perfect.

The brakes unfortunately are soft. The tech bled them 3x with no changes. I pointed out that there's coding. They hadnt done it. I will take it back Tuesday for the coding and hope the brakes firm up. Enjoy photos.

Next upgrade is my wheels due in about a month.

Great pics! Some nice upgrades and the entire car looks stunning. Glad to hear the suspension lives up to expectations. My kit should arrive next week, can't wait to get it on the car!

Somewhat shocking they didn't know about the brake coding. Presumably it was at a dealership.

Thanks for the compliment. The tech knew about the coding but ran out of time. Between the suspension and brakes it was a full day. We'll do the coding on Tuesday. I have a few other things I want coded as well. Ill get more photos up soon. Just wanted to add thanks to Sean and Ian for the awesome help on this project. BMW of Encinitas thanks.
