F30 328i M Performance Exhaust installed
Yeah, just got the M Performance Exhaust installed on my F30 328i.
There are some pros and cons but in general this exhaust is awesome. It is noticible difference to the stock exhaust. I had uploaded a video for reference. The exhaust has been installed for about 200km, and the charateristic of the sound changed a bit. When it first installed, it sound not much different at idle/<2000rpm, but it growl like crazy at 2500-3500rpm... it feels like a surge of angry sound. After 200km, the thing goes smoother and linear now, the idle and low rev give you a little bit tasty bass, and when you step on the throttle to 2500-3500rpm it shouts too. (It feels that it shouts a bit quieter then when I first installed, maybe I get used to the louder sound already? haha) So anyone know, for how long it will be fully broken in, and will it sound different? GOODs: - Nice looking ///M Tip - Nice Cold-Start Sound - Subtle and High Class Sporty sound, not just barely loud - burble and popping sounds are nice! - Quiet when you are cruising, Louder when you want it to be sporty! BADs: - Not very loud enough if you want a loud exhaust - when it goes to Sport Mode or High Rev, it sounds closer to the stock exhaust - Not feel of gain in performance - I WANT IT SOUNDS LOUD LIKE COLD-START ALL THE TIME EVEN WHEN I START THE CAR WARM!!! Great video. I pick up my Msport 328 Wednesday with the perf exhaust and can't wait. So breaking in with more miles will actually make it sound louder? I'll post some of mine as well, particularly the interior sound as that seems to be missing from a few m perf exhaust posts

I hope it sounds better at idle/low rev without losing performance. Have you guys heard of the E92 and F30 335i stock exhaust? I haven't heard of the F30 in person but I have heard of the E92 335i stock. it sounds so nice in low rev/idle...deep note! Is it because of the start/stop technology? warm starts sounds very unnoticible for F30 328i, is there the same issue for F30 335i?? |

Mine sounded exactly the same - cold start is the only thing I like about it. Zero performance gain.
Note: Sport mode and Comfort mode the valve is closed when warm and normal driving. ECO mode the valve is open and sounds much sportier. There is definitely something wrong here and wish they can fix this via a code. i.e. sport mode should be open 100%. |

Hi All,
So I had my //M Performance Exhaust installed about two weeks ago and just wanted to say I'm pretty happy with it. It could be a tad louder but I don't mind how it sounds since I didn't want something that would wake the neighbors every-time I started the car in the morning. I have 800 miles on it since installed and I'm not sure if I'll get any louder at this point ( now louder then when I first got it ). As the OP has stated it does sound best between 2500-3500 rpm's and the burble and popping sounds it makes when you're letting off the gas is great. In ECO mode it does sound better but I can't stand driving in this mode for to long. Don't really hear the exhaust notes as much in Sport mode which is kind of downer . Here's a quick video I recorded if anyone wants to hear what it sounds like at Cold Start ( sounds the best ) and while driving in comfort mode. Video http://youtu.be/-WfCcqm9MiY How does one post a video? |
