I'm fitting mine on Monday too thanks for the install pictures. Have you taken any other photos to share?

Did you use any exhaust paste or do a dry fit?

I have a 328 with the M Performance exhaust.

I must say these these tips look a lot better than my MPE! I may even consider getting this part myself and just replacing the tips

As long as the hitch doesn't affect the bumper trim, you're fine.
I've got the electrical hitch that folds out and that's not in the way.
Basically, you're only changing the lower trim part (with the M package) and changing the exhaust tips so you're staying clear of the tow hitch.

Thanks for that. I will look in to this.

Received mine from cotswoldbmwmini, mines the std bumper though so had to buy the trim piece, just waiting for it to come back from carbon dipping before I fit.

Has anyone cut there single tailpipe MP diffuser to take the twin?

Saves having to replace mine.

I think a dremel will do the job, taken slowly.

Sorry for the delay! I've been on holiday for the past two weeks and only got back yesterday!

I'll try and dig out some more photos. The ones I posted were the best however regarding your question, I just did a dry fit. It's a low pressure area so there is really no need to use exhaust paste.

Let us know how you get on!

Seeing as it's just €60 for the trim, I don't think it's worth the effort or potential for disaster....

An MP diffuser is not £60, otherwise I would buy one in a heartbeat.

Ah, sorry. I misunderstood you meant the MP one. The M Sport one however is €60 (so less then £60 - £48 to be exact - http://www.leebmann24.de/bmw-m-perfo...r-f31-f31.html).

I did consider getting the diffuser but while I don't mind spending a lot of money on things, I don't have the word "MUG" written across my forehead when it comes to the diffuser. It's a cheap injection moulded piece of plastic that's not even painted and they want an exorbitant amount of money for it.

BMW can keep their diffuser and I might, over time buy a 3rd party copy for €150 or less.

That's mine fitted, had my trim hydro dipped in carbon to match my spoiler, splitter, mirrors and shark fin

Got mine! What's the best/easiest way to cut the old one out?

I used a combination of a dremel and hacksaw as you can see from the photos I posted.

It's fairly easy to do. I made the clearance under my car easier by jacking it up and putting some axle stands in place to create a safe working environment.

Also wear goggles and if possible a mouth mask to stop bits of metal and rotating disc falling in your mouth and eyes!

As a tip, buying the right-hand tool for the dremel would have made everything a lot easier. They're pricey but I bought one after this as I can see it being useful. It would have eliminated the need for a hacksaw.

I am so jealous of this mod for the 320d, I can only wish that it was this easy on the 320i

Glad I found this thread, tried to get a price for the exhaust tip yesterday but the sales guy had no idea what I was talking about. At least I can give them the part number now.

Has anybody paid an exhaust shop to fit this? I don't trust myself to cut the old one in the right place.

No, but seeing as it took me just over an hour to fit it myself, I would not imagine a garage charging more than 1 hour labour to fit the exhaust. If not less.

You could probably save some time by replacing the bumper trim yourself. It would just look odd driving to the garage, but this part was only 7 screws. Pull off, and replace with the new and 7 screws back on again.

Honestly, it really isn't that hard to fit. Just measure 55mm from the back-box, tape off the area with some masking take and work at it with a dremel or hack-saw. It doesn't matter if the edges aren't perfect as it's not seen by anyone, although I filed them back to remove any sharp edges.

No sealant is required either as it's a low pressure area on the exhaust so there will be no leaks with the clamp. It's as simple as that.

So does the exhaust tip fit over the top of the existing pipe? They don't abut each other requiring a clean straight cut?

The part Numbers required are on the first page of the thread. I bought my parts from Salesafter.eu for a pretty decent price although I think Leebmann24.de is a couple of euros cheaper.
The actual installation took me and a pal about 40 minutes and we didn't bother to jack the car up. Removal of the diffuser is super easy. Them just measure out the distance and cut. Put the new tips in place and tighten it so it stays in place. Install the new diffuser and make your final adjustments.
If you don't want to do the cutting yourself just get a shop to do the cutting part for you, it should take them 10 mins tops.
A tip is to get some plastic prying tools for removing the diffuser. Really makes the job a whole lot easier.

Work in progress...

The fitment of the after market diffuser was pants so instead cut the original one using a dremel...

Also had to cut a bit of the rear undertray out...

Not a bad few hours work...

Great mod!

Wew. Thank God for those pictures. I can go to sleep now not thinking about the tips alignment. I mean for some reason, the inner tip looks ever slightly lower than the outer one which is exactly the same as mine no matter how I adjust it.
