B48 320i

Hi,

I have a noise when coming off revs/accelerator in my car.

Car is a 2018 320i UK spec so B48 engine.

Noise is louder when cold/just started up and is only heard when coming off the accelerator. I raise revs/drive off, I back off the accelerator and I get the noise as in the video. I can’t decide if it is coming from inside or outside and it also seems to quieten down to the point where I really have to listen for it when warm.

Ruling out turbo wastegate as engine not under load as you can see in video it is low revs. It also happens at any revs but only on lift off of accelerator.

Anyone else had this issue?

I wouldn’t rule out wastegate rattle, happens to a lot of people even at idle I’ve heard. I would check that out first to be safe then move from there.

Did you do any upgrades? Sounds like it would with a CAI or upgraded recirculation valve.

I noticed same thing last week. If engine is cold first couple of minutes backing off the accelerator does this sound. Do you know what it is?
