Just stopped by the tint dealer and they have a heat gun demonstration of the 3 tint choices they offer. The top of the line, Huper Optik Drei is incredible. Where the other tints still allowed quite a bit of heat through the glass, the HO Drei was actually cold to the touch. Comes with a pretty incredible price too...regular price $599; knocked $499 off if I buy in the next 10 days.

Just not sure it's worth spending that kind of coin on tint, when the standard "limo tint" is $199. Moreover, both Huber Optik products they offer are much lighter than the limo tint. I would guess 35-40% is the darkest they go.

That sounds pretty cool. It'd be nice to get that kind of heat rejection without the darkness. My F1 Pinnacle tint cost me $450 on my accord.

Can you post a pic of what it looks like? I'm still deciding how dark to go.

I like the tint the car comes with in terms of darkness, and while I think the stock reflectors stand out too much I don't like them painted. Thinking of Crystalline 70, with 90 on the windshield, and FX 35 on the front-side and rear reflectors.

Here's mine as example.

Car has 35% Huperoptik on all windows, 70% on front windshield. Opti-coat goes on this weekend.

Looking for any recommendations, and if you know a tinter in Phoenix, that would be great too.
FormulaOne Window Tinting film
Superior product, lifetime warranty, premium installation and outstanding value.

The Specialists here in Tucson do a top notch job.

The full package of the top of the line ceramic tint costs $320 installed here in Tucson. Second best is $285, both offer 99% UV blockage and the difference is the heat transmittal. 65% reduction with 35% ceramic and 45% reduction with the next best.Lifetime warranty. The front windows can be no darker than 35% to be in accordance with AZ law. It comes in 50, 35, 15, and 5. My plan is 35 in the front and 15 in the back and rear windows.

Thanks. I've been told there are no FormulaOne/Pinnacle authorized installers in Phoenix. Not sure I want to drive 100 miles down to TUC just for tint...

Thanks. I went non-ceramic, BTW (Huper Optik Select Drei). The huper still has 99% IR rejection and dark deep tint, but the non-cermaic has much, much lower visual reflectivity, and actually has higher total solar rejection (source). I wanted my windows to look deep black, not shiny... thats what the car color is for.

I paid just over $300 for the 4 sidewindows and rear, and $125 for the windshield... this was also done with a full kit of XPEL ultimate on the front (which was another $675).

**Edit** just looked at receipt -- got a 'holiday deal': Fronts were 159 marked down from 179, and the rears were 179 with the back thrown in for free. I would imagine 400 for all 5 would be a good deal for HO Drei.

Seems like a bargain. There is only one HO dealer in Phoenix and their regular price for Drei is $599 for four windows (rear is done in something else as they claim Drei doesn't fit properly on curved glass). They offered me $100 for $499 but that still seems ludacris to spend that much on tint.

Forumla One Pinnacle here. Did 5% (I think they call it 6%?) all around with nothing on the windsheild (obviously). My tint guy normally charges $275 but hooked me up for $200 cash. Very happy with the job he did and appearance.

Just found an authorized Pinnacle dealer in Phoenix. $399 for the sides and back window. Might see if I can work him down to 2 for $600 cash and get my wife's Lexus done at the same time.

Just tinted my car. SoCal here. Did 35% suntek carbon line all around. And 80% ceramic tint on windshield. Cost me $169 for all around + $100 for the windshield. I did some research and the suntek carbon tint is a cost effective way vs ceramic. It is non metal so it doesn't reflect, and the heat reduction is within 3-4% of high end ceramic tint. I love the windshield tint, I don't even turn on ac it's so cool. No issues with HUD

Huper Optik ceramic has two drawbacks. on the rear window you can get ghosting when the film is heatshrunk. it looks like wavy shapes in the tint. a good installer can minimize it, but its there. the other is the mirror like quality, makes the film look metallic.

i've had HO ceramic on my past four cars, went with formula one pinnacle as soon as my installer was authorized to carry it. very happy with the results.

the F30 shouldnt need moleskin. i've seen the gasket bmw is using, unlike the E90, there is no unfelted wiper on it. both are covered in felt from the factory, at least on my november build car.

Personally speaking I would not recommend tinting a windshield. Windshield tinting typically causes optical distortions and can amplify the optical distortions already existing in every piece of curved glass. Plus tint adds glare, some level of glare regardless of whether its ceramic or not.

Also consider the windshield is designed to take the impact of a body part in the event of collision (yielding least possible damage to passenger). Adding film can change these properties and cause cause additional damage to passengers in a collision situation. Have you ever seen what a windshield looks like after a body impact?

I'm not making this up. Its well known throughout the tint industry amongst professionals. Your installer may not know, but tint manufacturers are aware of it.
