F30 full non-adaptive LED retrofit and leveling sensors

Hi Guys,

I purchased a set of full LED non-adaptive headlights that I am looking to retrofit on my F30 with halogens. I am reading contradicting information with regards to whether I need the self leveling sensors or not. Some members claim they where able to successfully install non adaptive xenons or full LED's without the self leveling sensors and code out the vertical control AIM control failure. Can anyone shed some light on this? Thank you

Why?

iihs tests show Halogens are actually slightly better than the non-adaptive LED, though both rate POOR.

Can't really trust everything out there. Without getting into too much detail about how iihs came to it's conclusions, I don't necessarly agree with them. I drove an f30 with non-adaptive LED's and they light the road three lanes wide and so far ahead that it’s silly and far better then the halogens. Aside from all of the above, I love the look of the new LCI LED's.

You state you “love the (cosmetic) look of the new lci LEDs” which is totally acceptable.

There is a difference between color and brightness.

You are confusing the two to support your love of the cosmetic appeal.

It’s your car and you can do whatever you want. However to dismiss well orchestrated and nationally accepted and followed tests from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety is ridiculous just because you do not like the results.

I think I've read about people disabling the self-leveling sensors, but have the error pop up again after some time. I say just get the self-leveling sensors + wiring harness as they're not too difficult to install -- mostly running wires. I've done the retrofit myself and really transforms the look of the car. Better visibility than halogens IMHO.

Are these OEM? Just curious how much you spent as I have the halogens in a 2017 320i. I want the LCI LEDs but the price is crazy expensive and have not found aftermarket ones yet.

Hi Sanelko,
Running the wires is what I fear the most! Is there anything you can say about where the connections are made, what we must access, & where the wires actually run, pls? That physical stuff can be a b*tch....

Skunis,

Check out the listing below on ebay, $1450 they are pretty much a steal!

That's a crazy good deal at half price. What are they stolen? Lol! Did you get them yet? Are they really oem? Just took closer look and these are European version. Will they fit in US model correctly?

Wonder how much install costs as I looked at the install and it's a lot. Out of my comfort zone.

I emailed the seller since these are Europe headlights and he said they can be fixed for the US.

Does anyone know what that entails?

I did the install, u can code out the levels and error but I’m not completely sure if they will Work in US. It may be as simple as coding but someone correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t the main difference over there is that headlights have to be adaptive?

Do they have to be adaptive? I know these are self leveling and I do not think US cars have that.

You did the install? Did it work? You are saying not sure it will work but you did it and it worked?

US does have adaptive I think there they HAVE to b adaptive but I could b wrong. All lci led are self’s leveling tho. Yes I did the install. What I don’t kno is what is needed to make them work since they aren’t US. May be as simple as coding. That part I don’t kno.

Ok. So you installed them the European version and they are not working? You are driving around without headlights? Or you installed the US version?

I think there is just some coding to be done like coding out voltage and letting the the car know you have LEDs. I think since my car doesn't have leveling sensors I would have to install them and code that as well.

Talking to Brian at Kies Motorsports on a cost for install. May just be too expensive. I may have to go with the Depos even though they do not match the style of my LCI.

The European LCI LED headlights are the same as the US version, different part numbers but that's about it. No need for additional coding

I installed the Us version, they work fine and no levels installed either. Like mentioned above they will work. If u have questions on install or coding feel free to msg me or see my other threads about my install.
