Dont touch the intake sensor, from right to left looking from the front of the car,

-first goes the colorful connector into the IMAP sensor on the right side of the engine.

-Then on top of the intake manifold (black plastic on the right side on the top of the engine) lift up the insulation a bit and you will see the connector, in goes the coffee colored connector.

-ignore the purple connector, just strap it in and make sure it isnt in contact with any metal.

-blue soleniod goes on the left side of the engine on the engine wall, you will see it immediately since its the only blue cable on that side.( do not mistake it for the one on the right side of the engine wall attached to the release valve.)

Hope it helps!

Ok Guys,

Here is a quick video I did showing the connectors. I didn't actually install it (take mine out for the Winter), but this should give you enough confidence.

Remember, this is just informational. I'm not responsible for something happening to your car.

Here's the link to my video on Skydrive. I'll upload it to Youtube and embed it later

Hope this helps!

Bananachipz can you explain the can tool? And where that connects. That's my only worry before ordering the JB,I need to know for sure how to use the can tool. Correctly to remove any codes etc

Hi, can you please tell mr what the difference is btw using/not using the solenoid? I just installed it today having connected the solenoid and honestly the difference wasn't that noticeably to me. Is it because I have to disconnect the solenoid? The instruction on BMS said to leave it...

My friend ran some reading off his lap top it seems I would momentarily lose the boost after the boost hits around 11 psi.... Is it due to the solenoid?

Terry from BMS told me not to hook up the solenoid plug, just the tmap and map only. Everything has been working great!

That's the first I've heard of that.. Did he give you a reason why? I was running mine with it connected fine throughout the summer.

Maybe Mike from N54Tuning can chime in...

The can tool plugs into the OBD port in the drivers footwell. It's basically a cable with a box on the end (looks similar to the box on the end of the jb), and a single button.

On E9x's the CAN tool works in conjunction with your gauges to show you what you're changing. Unfortunately this doesn't work with F30's, so you kinda fly blind. The good news is apparently it's set to auto-delete by default. So ever few minutes it will delete any hidden codes.

The real problem is that you have to trust that it's working. I just leave mine plugged in.

From Terry on n54tech:

New DME versions no longer require it. You are welcome to connect it if your car does not throw codes with it connected. If it does, then you have the newer DME version that needs it disconnected.

Yep.. just got word from Terry as well:

"For simplicity we've updated the directions indicating all F30s can leave it disconnected now. If you have it connected and its running fine then fine. But the connector will not be used on a go forward basis."

Talking 2013 335is

Just purchased this, was wondering if there is a JB4 or any other chip out there for my engine yet? Also is my engine still considered the N54? Thanks.

I know the '12 335is was the N54 and assuming the '13 didn't change it should still be. There is more tuning out there for the N54 than N55 right now (obviously since it's been out for longer).

Just installed the jb stage1 on my 335i last night. NOTICEABLE difference in comfort and sport mode, got me grinning ear to ear going on empty freeway on ramps.
