With the weather warming up to above 20 degrees in the afternoon, my last tank in my 2013 335 xdrive 8 speed auto driving 60% highway and 40% city (95% in comfort and 5% sport) averaged 10 L/100 km. Not too bad, my 2008 335 xdrive with 6 speed manual would have averaged probably 11.5 L/100 km in the same conditions............I gave up on Eco Pro a few months ago, it seemed like too much of a waste of the 300 horsepower engine and seemed outright dangerous in city driving when you may need to suddenly accelerate quickly.

Last week I picked up a 2013 328i xDrive with 15KM on it. My first tank of gas I drove 450KM's on half a tank. It was all highway and I had it in eco pro. I can't wait to see how much I can do once the car is broken in.

The fuel economy you guys are getting is crazy. I am now at 2300km and my average is 12.5l/100km. It's 50/50 city highway. 50% comfort 35% sport and 15% Eco pro. I can't stand driving this car in Eco pro mode but it looks like it makes a big difference in economy

In the city, I am saving 10% if I am driving in Eco. At least that is what the car tells me. With this weather, 80% city driving, I get about 650-680km per tank. I put only Premium in it though. |

Had my new 2013 328 x for a week now - only 600+km on the odometer so far. Still breaking it in so mostly eco-pro mode. Wow - I'm being left in the dust by corollas! First tank of gas was 9.2 l/100km (the OBC indicated 9.5). Mostly suburban driving, no daily commute.
The trip computer is a nice toy for tracking fuel economy. I've checked the box to reset it automatically, and it basically tracks what I do for each day independently. Had an eye popping 7l/100km running my daughter to the stables this weekend, but again, I am driving like a Florida retiree... |

4 months later (update)...
So from my last post about 3 months ago, things have improved significantly. I'm now getting 10.2/10.3 mpg with mostly slow highway traffic but I also drive a lot in Eco Pro coz I feel like I'm always stuck in traffic.
I drove down to DC last week and I got about 9.9-10.0 (mix of Sports, Comfort and Eco Pro).

I'm down to 8.9 total average since I got the car last October. Pretty good I might say.

Did a 1 week vacation a couple of weeks ago - Ottawa to Grand Bend, with stops in Kingston, Toronto (intentional and traffic :-) ), and side trips around to Stratford etc.
Driving was 115-125kph on the 401/402 when I could, puttering around very day through Grand Bend and on secondary roads at 90-100kph. A Friday evening rush hour slog through downtown Toronto on the way out. 3 accidents on the 401 through Toronto on the way in (my sympathies to all you Toronto drivers who put up with that every freaking day!). . Cruise control when the conditions allowed. Comfort mode. I reset the Trip computer at the beginning of the trip. A the end IIRC it read ~2200km, ~85kph avg speed, 6.7 l/100km (35 mpg US, 42 Imp). Three fill-ups for the trip - outbound in Toronto, there the day before we headed home, and day after the end of the trip in Ottawa: 6.9, 6.7, 6.2. The 6.2 (38 mpg US, 45 imp) was an 8 hour drive home with those traffic jams in Toronto. 4 stops. Freakishly good mileage. The OBC seems to be dead on, or a bit pessimistic my .1 to .2 l/100km. Using straight premium, no ethanol if I can avoid it.

Hey guys, I've noticed in the winter my fuel economy drops a lot. I'm averaging around 11.5L/100km, with the majority of it being city driving. Although, I've been tracking my mileage and it seems I'm only getting about 450km on a tank of gas, but even in the summer the best I got was about 550-600km per tank. Does this seem normal or is there something wrong here?
My summer setup is the stock 19" RFT on 403, whereas my winters are 18" replicas on Blizzak LM60.

My average so far - https://www.fuelly.com/driver/timbits93/328xi
Though in the winter, seems like it's around 11L/100km in the city vs the low to mid 10s during the summer. |

Hey,
Anyone driving in Vancouver winter weather can comment? Not sure if this is normal. 2 months into my 2013 328i x-Drive and have about 2,300 KM on it. Average 12.9l/100km which seems unusually very high. Doing about 95% city driving in stop and go traffic (rush hour, about 30 min in and out of downtown). 100% comfort mode and have been keeping it under 4k RPM. |

I'm actually taking my car in to the dealership next week to get it looked at (alignment is a bit off, a door seal is coming off, etc).

Running a loaner X1 xdrive28i AT this week and I am amazed at how poor mileage is. Car has 7500km on it so definitely broken in.
Getting 12.6L/100km at half tank use ALREADY. 60% city. This is no better than the '06 E60 525xi I owned prior. My new car is the 6MT RWD 328i. Only have run one tank since delivery and it was under 10L/100Km. |

Usually it'll be around, so Richmond, Burnaby, Coquitlam - and usually during the rush hour traffic. Also leave my Auto-Start-Stop function on. Still, fuel economy is world's better than the '07 G35 Sedan it replaces! |
