Canbus Port Locations, F30

Sorry if this has been addressed, but I couldn't find anything in the forum.

Is there a canbus port access anywhere in the F30 engine compartment?

Thanks!

If you mean OBD port there's only the one in the cabin.

I was just looking for easy and direct connection to the 2-wire canbus in the engine compartment. I've heard of diagnostic ports in the engine compartment, and I know the engine is connected to the bus, but I don't know if there is any easy access to the bus without cutting and splicing wires.

Obviously, the PT-CAN2 bus is not an OBD Port. 2 different things.

Well no shit Sherlock. I just wanted to be sure of what he was looking for, in case he was thinking of coding or diagnosing from under the hood. OP, this may help: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...PVPEFJ3FnJBxGh

Well no shit Sherlock. OP never indicated he was looking for an OBD Port in the engine. You assumed very incorrectly as you didn’t know what a canbus port was. And you know what they say about ass-ume.

Thanks for the help. I was looking for an alternative location in the engine compartment to connect a JB4 to the 2-wire canbus, rather than the normal coat-hangar-through-the-firewall approach.

Yeah, right. My only concern was that the OP might be thinking of one type of port that's far more commonly used than another, and I wanted to be sure of which port type he was referring to.

What I won't assume is which particular personality defect it is that causes you to be such a total jerk. Maybe illusory superiority, maybe you're just a good old fashioned asshole, but whatever it is, congratulations, you've earned a spot on my ignore list. As only two others out of the 325,000 members here have been so honored you are truly a rarity.

I guess what separates us is I can read what the OP posted.

As you chose to answer question OP did not ask and “assumed” you knew better than he what he wanted to know, who REALLY has the delusion of “illusory superiority”?

Unfortunately I cannot put you on ignore as answers to forum members question when you post incorrect info or info not related to their question has to be addressed before someone makes a serious error.
