These are two of the most idiotic posts on F30Post I've seen in a while.
I think it's the same person with multiple accounts beginning with F to support each other. A very angry person.

Oh yes and a Ferrari as a daily driver...

Read the very first post in this thread. I fixed it by rebooting the phone.

I'm not a BMW Genius nor do I really need to consult one because unlike you, I'm intelligent enough to figure out this sorta thing myself.

I thought so. Didn't see anything wrong with what I said. OP is an ass, easy as that. They're meant to have general knowledge of features and options, they aren't tech support or engineers or otherwise literal "geniuses". It'd be like me berating Apple and one of their Geniuses because they can't interpret the source code to iOS8.

Comments are 100% justified.

No. They are intended to be subject matter EXPERTS. BMW isn't calling them "BMW Generalists". BMW made the decision to implement their "Genius" program and name it that specifically because they recognize the need to have technical specialists to handle a depth of information that the typical CA is not able to have adequate competency in. That is BMW's stated purpose for creating the position and program. Dealers didn't create these positions out of the goodness of their hearts. BMWAG instructed them to do it.

Pretty convinced now you are actually a BMW Genius. Hope you're getting good benefits in this job!

So me asking him to let audio keep playing when the phone locks is equivalent to asking Apple for their source code? The problem I fixed by rebooting the phone? You really are a complete tool!

Don't spend so much time on an Internet forum creating multiple identities just do some research and learn your job better.

To be fair to these guys, I have since spoken to a couple on the phone who were quite helpful, and I like my CA so I will give him 10s on the survey, don't want this to affect him.

IMO there are absolutely amazing . Just because they don't tell you what you want to hear doesnt make them wrong. They have replaced a couple of Mac books and always treated us fairly.
No, them being wrong makes them wrong. I understand YMMV when it comes to the Genius Bar.... Mainly whether they replace your defective iPhone or give you some kinda bs about how it's working as intended.

It's pretty hilarious watching completely computer illiterate customers being totally entranced by the slightly more computer literate geniuses.

Nope, although if I were it'd probably be a lot less stressful even if I had to deal with people like you.

Not sure why you think I have more than one identity on here, it's to be expected that more than one person here thinks you're an ass (maybe not in general, but the way you handled the situation was unnecessary). At least you didn't burn your CA like you originally intended to during your childish temper tantrum.

Enjoy your 328i though, they're nice cars.

Subject matter experts <> tech support.

They're simply meant to know options, features and general knowledge of how to navigate through menus and settings.

For troubleshooting and general tech support, you're usually better off coming here.

Why? So a long-time BMW owner can get condescending commentary from someone who has barely owned a BMW for a year?

The OP has a point and your treatment of him is uncalled for. Cut it out.

Coming from a guy who was previously banned here, your opinions hold little weight, if any.

That was a long time ago. Unlike you, I learned my lesson on how to behave in discussion forums. Check my rep.

You have barely been driving BMW's for a year. We appreciate your feedback on configurations and driving dynamics, you really learned a few things about the cars and often add nicely to conversations where appropriate. Your personal attacks are unwarranted and should stop.

That may be true, but I don't think that's what BMW is telling its customers about the Genius program.

I run an IT department and I can tell you that we often tell you things that are not entirely true. This isn't because we just want to get rid of you or that we don't know the problem. Just clients rarely accept "it's a glitch" and rarely understand the real issue (Typically "operator Error").

The fact is that fixing computers is no more a science that anything else. It's a lot of trial and error and rarely is troubleshooting a straight forward process. There are just too many variables and trying to explain to customers the exact issue, or the lack of, often makes them feel unhappy.

Now I'm not defending this guy, his answer was crap, and I'd expect more of him as well. You just can't expect the BMW Genius to troubleshoot your Apple device. He gave you an answer so that you wouldn't feel stupid, and so that the dealership wouldn't fire him from his new job. Chances are that he is newer at this than any of you and was just given this new position as he seemed slightly more tech savvy than the others. BMW doesn't have a training program for these guys that I know of.

Let it go, move on.

I'm in IT and I can completely concur, sometimes it's just easiest to come up with something reasonable when the issue truly is just a glitch, because users do not like to accept that.

On a side not I thought that real BMW Geniuses have to go to a school/training program. I have several friends who are one.

I'd be interested if there is. I'd love a copy of the material!

you are an ass! so shut the f...ront door. No one threw a tantrum, no one was a child, and OP is absolutely correct. When you get a brand new car, you pretty much want to make certain all options work. Listening to music in car, genius, is a big deal for many people in case you havent noticed this. Bluetooth can be found in lesser cars working wonderfully. So making certain it properly works in a BMW, is not an over-reaction.

People are so freaking rude here. Scowling and judging others so harshly. Everyday I come accross this nonsense. Everybody got their two rude cents to deposit. How about trying not starting shlt on this forum? Everybody's smart it seems. How about being nice? How about lets not punish folks? There's so much negativity on here, it's insane. Let's chill out.

At the end of the day, the thing that annoyed me the most was how the BMW Genius started inventing complete nonsense about 'registered apps', 'that's the way it's supposed to work on 2015s, etc.. I would have preferred it if he just said 'I don't know'. Much better info on the forums for problems like this.

Anyway, for the mods I apologize if I was rude on here don't want to get into it with any keyboard warriors on here so I am out of this thread.

Peace!

Btw, I love my new car, just can't believe how much BMW have improved it over the 2012s!

It's not an issue with the car, it's an issue with the phone so no, a Genius wouldn't necessarily be able to fix it and he's reaction was an overreaction.

Like I said, don't read too much into how marketing decided to call them what they call them, they won't know everything especially when it relates to connectivity to other devices that they aren't trained in.
