After debating this with myself for several weeks, I've concluded that the Aluminum trim is best suited for the black interior, and the glossy black is better for the Everest Grey and Red interiors. I'm either going to order the Everest Grey or Black leather interior and will chose the trim accordingly. I also think the red stripe looks best with non-red interiors. This has honestly been the toughest part of my ordering process. Ya, I tend to over think things..

I really love my Aluminum. It hasn't scratched and have had numerous compliments on it. I didnt care for the red, white, or blue strip across the dash. It's all preference though. You're the one who has to look at it every time you drive.

+1 Agreed! I'm going to go with the Everest Grey and decided I'll get the Black with the Red stripe. It will look awesome. I currently have the aluminum on my 335i and I don't like it. I feel that the aluminum gets dirty quite easily and I consistently wipe off finger prints off of it.

Curiosity: Why are you touching the trim? I don't believe I have ever had cause to touch any of the trim other than for a quick dusting.

piano black is plastic. i opted for black with red insert, found it modern, classy, sporty and original .alu is more deja vu. but a matter of taste. for those hesitating, black holds up well, no scratches so far but need more "maintenance" than alu.

I took delivery of a car with gloss black w/ red stripe. It was a mistake by the dealer, I really ordered brushed aluminum w/ red stripe. Personally, I think the gloss black looks pretty good. It doesn't look cheap to me, but it is a fingerprint/dust magnet. I have had the car for one day and it already looks disgusting. If you want gloss black and want to keep it clean, expect to ALWAYS keep a microfiber cloth in the car with you.
The dealer will be switching the gloss black for the aluminum for me once they get the part in stock. |

My interior is the same too, but with AT. I love the look/feel of the aluminum with the red stripe, but be aware, the aluminum does get rather hot, even when the car is not in direct sun. Much hotter than the other (black) surfaces in the car. Cools down within a few minutes of AC, but I was surprised when I first got the car.

I've had both in the past. The black trim is very nice and looks elegant, but get's scratched easily. For the F30 the area of the trim is actually smaller than the E90 so I don't mind the brushed aluminum.

I have the same interior, I think it looks amazing. I love the red strip. I would only and always opt for the aluminum. It looks unique and no other car line really does it like that.

Black
I didn't order my 335, its my first BMW experience and I know the next.one I will order for sure. But to stay on topic I have the black accents. I really enjoy the look, but I too am worried about scratches. the fingerprints are not too bad. I am definitely considering ordering the carbon fiber M trim, the cost is high but it looks awesome.

How does it look, if it's not how it looks in pics though? Because THIS is exactly how I hope it looks - with a really nice contrast, and not too dark. November can't come quick enough....!! |

I actually like the red strip, I don't have it in my car (yet). If anyone got one of these trims with the red strip and wants to change to something else, let me know, I'm looking to buy.

The Piano accents (strips) are not very hard to clean, and match the Piano Gloss that is already surrounding the Radio Controls (4gc). They give that nice sparkle/bling to the entire finish. I think the brushed aluminum was a bit too plain, and would show wear easier.
