I can't see how coding those things caused any issue with the DME related things, it's not touched in any coding we do (on purpose!).

First, when you code an ECU, the ECU is "rebooted" and initialized.

When you code the FEM_BODY (lights, ASS, etc), it will reset the FEM and that WILL reset the mirrors, you will have to readjust them. That occurs when coding any F30. So what you saw is normal.

When you code the HU_CIC (DVD in motion), it reboots the head unit and the radio turns on. This also occurs on all F30's and is normal.

The 4 things that were coded only affected the FEM, HU_CIC, and ACSM ECU's. I don't think the tune is connected to those, are they?

I have coded other F30's with a stage 1 tune and one with the PPK and had no issues at all.

Did Dr Euro reset your 3 ECU's back to factory defaults or did they indicate that the coding was the cause, or was it just coincidence?
Here was the explanation I got yesterday from Dr. Euro..:

"The JB4 is connected to the CAN-BUS system which is basically the cars communication network for a few main modules including the CAS module, EGS module, and DME. Before any coding or programming session the JB4 should be put into map 0 so that it can be bipassed. I have seen JB4 cars get reprogrammed at the dealership after a service and end up losing functions on the JB4 for this reason. This may or may not be the case since the car was only coded and not reprogrammed but it is plausible. The corrective measure for this would be to re-upload the firmware to the JB4. Basically since it was not bipassed during coding, packets of information sent through the CAN-BUS could have reset the microprocessor inside the JB4. I have USB cables on hand and am located in Tustin. If you want to drive out to me during the week then I can sell you the USB cable and show you how to log with the interface. I am hoping that by re-uploading the current firmware to the JB4 that all issues are resolved but if not then at least by logging the car we can pinpoint any other issues"

I am pretty convinced that the coding definitely interfered with the JB4 somehow. It seems too coincidental that it went into limp mode not even a couple hours after the coding session had finished. And I have never had trouble with the JB4 whatsoever before and been running it for a pretty long time now.. (maybe 6 months, just guessing). Never had the car go into limp mode either before..

I do think it's strange that stage 1 wasn't affected by coding but stage 2 was.. But then again, I believe stage 2 is still in its "Beta" phase, so technically it is still working out bugs and glitches I believe.

I am not sure if he reset the ECUs or not. From watching him, I believe he only re-installed the JB4 firmware again, and then made sure we were on Map 2..

Driving home last time was pretty crazy. Thing hauls ass. I also thing there was a new update that I did not have before with the stage 2, so now it is most current..

Anyways, just something to be on the lookout for when coding and having JB4 (or stage 2 of JB4 to be specific)

LOL I totally said at the zoo, " I have never encountered limp mode before ever, and I run a tune ". To my shock, and dismay, I was biting my words a couple hours after saying that LOL

Definitely hope it stays that way; We ran the car pretty hard doing the logs last night going WOT probably around 6-7 times.. And I ran the car pretty hard on the way home just because it was too much fun. I am convinced it should be good now, like I said, I can feel the boost and all the power again that I was missing after leaving the Zoo on Sunday

I knew about the DTC button, and I knew about sport mode already..But I didn't know the immense power you get from when you hold down the DTC button for 3 seconds.. WOW, the power is insane... Make sure to only use that mode in a straight line and don't use it around curves or try to drift it, because you will probably crash your car..

Plus, I thought I had "Tiptronic" on my car that I never used, come to find out, that is a sportier throttle I believe. After holding down the DTC button for 3 seconds, I was advised to slide over the gear changer thing (blanking on name), and it actually is a sportier race mode that still does it automatic for you..

Pretty crazy, I keep learning things about this car everyday it seems..

Love the photos, partial to the M343 wheels on the AW F30 but all the cars look phenomenal.

Nice cars, looks like you guys had a great time!

Anyone know if the F30 on Velgens is lowered or stock height?

Thanks. Yeah, I'm thinking of getting a set of these but I think just a little bit of a drop looks a tad more aggressive. Hansolo1019, what type of suspension mods are you contemplating?

I installed my splitter not too longer ago, so I am trying to get used my car before I can decide if I want want to lower or not. If I decides to low my car, I will definitely go with KW v2.

Presario is selling his KW v2, so if he doesn't find a buyer by next spring, then I might pick up his.

Interesting... there's not so much difference visual-wise between 19" and 20", I mean, from those pics, at least...
