Hi Kagawa26, not sure how much it costs in Melbourne but I am getting it done on my 328i M Sport in Sydney on Wednesday for $450. Not sure if that is a good price or not.

It was just over $800 for 2 coats, including outer wheels also coated.

Dan also spent over an hour buffing out scratches in the high gloss shadowline on the B pillars. It was actually very scratched even though it was only 4 days old. Apparently this is the softest part of the car, now also protected by OptiCoat, so hopefully it will keep the scratches off it.

Yeah the Shadowline pillars are notorious for fine scratches.

Going completely OT- I had a chuckle when I read your forum name as it reminded me of the first line of the Rifleman's Creed

I received a quick response from both parties today, here's the quote from Derek at Shikyna Detailing:

The full breakdown of Pricing is as follows

To Opticoat the paint is $550 Including Prep. We do a thorough examination of the paint to make sure there are no defects from dealer delivery.

For the glass we use Optiglass Pro which will last about 3 years creating an ultra slick surface to bead water for greater visibility $100 for windscreen only or $200 for all windows inc Mirrors.

Opti-Guard Leather and Vinyl treatment providing approx 2 years protection for $300 and with kit there is also a fabric treatment to do the mats and carpets. The Opti-Guard Leather and Vinyl creates a hydrophobic coating to protect coated leather and vinyl surfaces from premature aging, cracking and other damage such as colour transfer and staining of leather seats.

For the Alloys, we remove each wheel, clean and coat the entire Alloy surface with Opticoat for $60 per Rim. Total $240

We also sell the Optimum Car Care Cleaning & Maintenance Kits for $70

Total cost for all options would be $1290. By combining all options, I am happy to do everything including a Maintenance kit for $1200.

Hi guys,
New to the forum, and new to BMW, and awaiting late October delivery of my 328 alpine white M Sport. My first white car so I'm unsure if white is the sort of finish that will benefit from sealants like opticoat. Ant thoughts or recommendations would be appreciated
Thanks
Steve

I just opticoated my Golf 7 today and its flat white. The reason for sealing car paint is multi fold. For me the biggest reason is for the extra layer of chemical and scuff resistant protection. It's great piece of mind to know when you spot some fresh bird dropping that there's something there to delay the acid from eating your clear coat.

Hydrophobic qualities is also handy as it helps with washing your car and manages to keep the car cleaner for longer.

Oh and plus it's shiny and easier to maintain then using wax alone.

Had my F31 finally opticoat today by Reflect Effect Parramatta yesterday. so much pollen flying near my office this afternoon and i have to rinse them. The good thing is they are easily washed away. My question is should i wash my car the next day?

After the wash this evening, I applied Rain-X on the windscreen and all the windows. Now they should go hand-in-hand with the opticoat! :-)

Also, been watching Drive Youtube channel on Drive Clean by AMMO NYC. Really like the detailed videos on how to maintain the car and wonder anyone knows where to buy in Australia. Shipping from US is expensive!

Hi KT I was told not to wash it for a week after I got mine done. Needs to harden a bit I believe. It takes 30 days to harden completely.

Have you had issues with your wipers in the past using Rain-X? I recall someone saying it made matters worse for them. I did find it odd.

Short answer - No. But after 30 days I used Dodo Juice Purple Haze Wax ( soft wax made for dark coloured cars - I have mineral grey) after using ph balanced car wash and it looks great. Would work well on EBII as well.

f**k. Just wanted to see the Kennett curse extend. Lucky I am Fitzroy supporter. Sorry for hijacking the post (albeit with myself) back to F30's.
