finally settled.....

on what combination of modes to drive in

Comfort mode but with the gear stick to the left in sport auto seems to give the best overall drive when you need to make swift progress and normal auto is cool for just cruising in traffic

Eco poo is generally a waste of time and I just don't see the real world benefit

Sport mode seems to my feet a bit too sensitive on the throttle unless you are on a track or racing off the lights

so decision made, comfort with sport auto it is

(FYI - I do not have adaptive suspension so the drive settings do not have any effect on ride)

I rarely push my gear stick to the left TBH in my 335d. Feels so much torque that there is no need 90% of the time. And foot to the floor for overtaking.

You seem to lose the "torque wave" putting into sport.

When it arrives, I intend to keep my 330d in Eco Pro at all times, and observe every bit of Eco guidance it gives me.

Probably won't see the interesting side of 2000rpm during the entire lifetime of the car...

And in the next couple of years when insurance companies make "how's my driving?" tracker boxes mandatory, you'll all be driving that way...

Why get a 330d and not a 320d or even a 318 for that matter if you are just going to keep itin eco pro mode? The hows my driving box will never become mandatory! i Hope it doesnt anyway!

A little i dont understand why you would get a bigger 6 cylinder car and oput it in limp mode all the time. Why not have a 4 pot and get better economy all the time . Probably better economy in comfort in the 320 over driving the 330 in eco pro mode all the time. Unless ive missed something

No they won't. Human rights, blah blah blah. And even if they do I'll buy a cheap Chinese jammer and still drive my car how I want.

Also why would you buy a 330 if your always going to drive like that? Surly a 320 would make more sense?

Eco Pro for when you can't make reasonable progress...
Comfort for making reasonable progress
Comfort and stick to the left to make a particularly rapid overtake
Sport Chassis and Comfort drivetrain for twisty fun. (Shame about the dead weight steering)
Sport Chassis and Stick to the left to make very reasonable progress. Or, to scare your passenger...

^^^^^^
Why can't BMW just give us one weight for the steering, that works?

Personally I think that it would be really handy to have one button press to engage sport mode and sport on the automatic gearbox simultaneously. Shame it can't be configured as a favourite.

I like the steering feel in sport mode best, but I don't always need the gear shift settings that go with it. So, I usually stick to comfort plus stick left for quick overtakes or fast launches from stationary; and I just live with the lighter steering. Throttle sensitivity in sport mode is a little too hair-trigger for my taste too. Pity it's not all individually selectable.

I like the steering weight in Sport. However, the weight seems very much to come at the expense of steering feel. Sport feels damped to me.

Comfort feels a little light, but has more feel and feedback.

I have sDrive, Servotronic steering and Adaptive Suspension.

It's certainly a real shame we can't fully customise these modes...

Does anybody know what the steering weight is like on the standard non Servotronic or VSS racks?
