LCI Msport colors
I cancelled my M235i order and then discovered this mess.
Why, why does BMW limit the Msport colors so much? The mediterranean blue looks really nice, but you can't get it with Msport. Mineral white? Not with Msport, just like before. The M235i is available in mineral white, why not the 3 series Msport? Ok then, the standard "sport" 3 can have the "track package", however, you have to take those dark wheels that come with the package, and I don't like them at all. Option for $900 more is to get 19" wheels on the track package. But I don't want 19's as I don't like the ride with that size. I test drove a 335i with 19's and did not like it. This is supposed to be a facelifted 3 series with more exterior and interior options, but not if you an Msport. And even if you go with a non Msport then there are other limitations that go there as well. BMW really wants me to shop other brands, I know they do. |

I was in the same camp (just placed my order for a 340iX today). I decided that the glacier silver looks pretty good with the darker (398) wheels and the blue M sport brakes, IMHO. Estoril blue matches them as well and definitely stands out, but I agree it's annoying that the sport package restricts the color options, and that the track package further restricts the wheels (especially since the standard M sport package allows more wheel options). The good part about the 398 wheels is that they're the only non-run flat option, so the tires should be more compliant.
My CA even got my hopes up, telling me I could order the M sport brakes a la carte (he claimed he verified this directly with BMW AG). But when he tried entering the order, it failed, and subsequent calls with Germany and BMWNA confirmed the package is required. http://www.bmw.com/com/en/newvehicle...ml?#visualizer |

BMW has (annoyingly) limited the M sport combinations since the F30 rolled out.
I know it's not the same, but you could always go for Alpine White in lieu of Mineral White. |

I don't get why they limit M-Sport colors as much as they do.

It's a marketing/brand image thing. Yes annoying, but the designers would like the m sport line of cars to look a certain way. Limiting color selection to a group of colors does that for them. I do think their selection should be better, buts what it is.

slightly off topic, but i wonder if Estoril cars are holding a *marginally* better value now that they stopped producing it

Mineral White I don't get. It's available on the M235i, available with M-Sport on other models but not the 3 or 4.

They havent stopped producing it, i ordered my 2016 F30 in Estoril Blue.. From what i understand dealers can only order this color when a customer requests it, they cant just order up a bunch for dealer stock. If this is true then, EB does have some exclusivity to it since most new car buyers dont want to wait. Down the road, if you go to sell it i think it may fetch a higher price to the right buyer who appreciates the color. The keyword being, the right buyer.
