Jet black vs sapphire f30

Don't be mad, but the never ending comparison of jet black and sapphire black doesn't seem to have been extended to the f30.

It would be cool to see some photos of both!

Having owned both, Jet Black and Sapphire, Sapphire Black looks better, it's easier to maintain does not streak swirl and will show swirl marks. Jet Black, is a true black, however the paint is soft, showing streaks, scratches and after a car-wash, swirls streaks.

If you're into excessive detailing, Jet Black is for you.

Highest Regards.

Ha, true. I love Jet Black, having owned a metallic black Audi and passing up various Sapphire Black Z3 M Coupes when I was shopping those.

Both are great colors, but it ultimately does come down to how detail oriented you are and if the extra care JB demands is worth it to you. I can't think of a better look than a truly clean non-metallic paint, but understand why folks love metallic paints.

Honestly, I ordered Jet Black because I wanted my car to be black. In some lights Black Sapphire looks like a very dark gray, which is fine, but not what I personally wanted. Black Sapphire is a great color and I'm glad people order F30s in all sorts of different colors so I can see them, but I have a soft spot for gloss black cars.

I was struggling with Jet Black vs. Black Sapphire before I ordered my F30. Eventually went with Jet Black because a) it was cheaper; and b) it had a more "pure" black look to me. It definitely requires more detail work to keep it looking sharp, but a well detailed Jet Black looks better than a Black Sapphire to me.

I'll post pics later of my Jet Black F30...
