Brake light LED conversion

Hello,
I am looking to finish upgrading my exterior lights to LEDs, which leaves me at the brake lights. Currently I have Phillips 12356 12v 21w halogens.

Has anyone changed them to LEDs without coding and modification to the bulb hole itself?

Plenty of people have converted the bulbs to LED's, but you will need to code out any checks otherwise your brake lights and turn signals will rapidly flash randomly as you're driving.

Coding will be required no matter if the bulbs are error free or not. LED's just don't have the resistance for the bulb checks. Coding is pretty simple to do yourself or if someone does it for you, get other things coded while you are at it.

I've been using WeissLicht LEDs for the directionals, I already paid for someone to code once before. It is what it is I guess, just need to know which bulbs people have tried and works the best

I have the Weisslicht bulbs in front and rear directionals (both amber) and in the brake lights. Trying to find a red LED for the rear fog and I'll be done with the taillights

Which WeissLicht did you use for the brake? I emailed bimmian and they said they don't carry the brakes at this time

A pair of WeissLicht bulbs run around $100. Need two pair one for front one for rear, then if you want matching fog lights. I'm still trying to figure out the brake light replacements.

They are the same as the rear turn signal, just have to order them in red.

I'm $200 for the rear brakes and turn signals, and another $100 (I think when I bought them they were $89 + $10 for shipping) for the front turn signals.

Since the lenses are red, you probably want to order your bulbs in white. I've done red LED with red lenses and it was dramatically dimmer that white LED.

That's the rear fog bulb out of the inner taillight correct?

Not with the Weisslicht bulbs, the white shines through pink. The Weisslicht bulbs are bright enough that the amber rear turn signals shine amber through the red. The brake light bulbs are along the same color as the F10 led's, but WAY brighter.

I remember someone saying that the 4 series had different brake lights.

They do have the H21w listed on the site, just not in red,

Yeah, guess I'm gonna have to wait. Also don't see brake lights listed on the coding cheat sheet either

Try horizon, a lot of people use them as well for LED's.

Here are the codes for the brake lights:

Did you use white or red colored LEDs for the brakes? Also, did you have to code your brakes at all?

Hi,

I have a 2014 F30 and have switched out my rear turn signals & back up lights with LEDs; for each bulb as has been stated, there are three items to change the coding.

Attached is my bulb card which some may find useful.

Hope that helps

Attached a PDF. You probably can't see it because you're on the iOS-Android application.
