Difference Coming from F30 N55 EWG to E90 N55?

I was considering going from a F30 N55 EWG to a E90 N55 and I was wondering what others think. Not considering N54 at all, since this will be my daily and don't want to get something unreliable

I am currently on BM3 Stage 2 FBO on my F30, and probably around 370~ whp?

If I go FBO on the E90 N55, what numbers am I looking at?

I know the E90's have a hydraulic power steering and feel much different from the F30. This is definitely a plus

But in terms of reliability, is the N55 E90 less reliable? or is it only a little bit less reliable compared to the f30. What problems should I be expecting?

What's wrong with your F30? Unless we're talking about the M3 E90, I see this as a downgrade.

I'm having a parasitic battery drain. Previous owner had a aftermarket battery on it and lasted about 2 years.

If dealership/me can't figure out this battery drain issue I was considering a e90

Power wise I was wondering the difference. Still not sure on the e90 but just considering it

I just don't see why you would do this; a battery drain is not an issue you sell a whole car over.

I wanted to just get a not so expensive temporary car and eventually get a M340i in about 3 years

I took it to 2 reputable indy shops and they could not find anything. Went to an actual dealership and everything seemed fine with their test. They thought it was a obd passthrough lowjack (gps I did not have access to) so I we uninstalled that and I even uninstalled carplay or anything aftermarket on the car.

So the 2nd appointment is where they thought it was the non oem battery

It's not a slow battery drain, sometimes it would be 2 days in a row and it would be dead when I go to work. I would drive around 30-45 mins the night before and still be dead in the morning

Sounds like water pump to me. I get that you don't want to throw money at a problem ,but if its your original water pump it is due.

I share your frustration. Issue started for me in 2021 but luckily is very sporadic. One mechanic recommended to use a battery tender. My car is parked outside so that's not really an option. I bought this jump starter and it has been very useful:

So far, I spent around $1,100 on troubleshooting and the IBS negative battery cable.
