2014 Interior Trim Question

I just purchased a 2014 BMW 328i with wood interior trim strips and navigation/tech package. I am interested in replacing the wood trim with aluminum trim that I purchase in the classifieds (so it's coming off 2012/2013 models). Do you all think that the 2012/2013 aluminum trim will fit my 2014?

Thanks!

Thanks for your help! What do you think is the best way for me to confirm? Hopefully someone else has swapped trims into a 2014...

AFAIK they will fit.

The IDrive insert is the same size it's just the knob that is bigger.

OP, I am considering trim replacement too. Have a similar question since my car is still on the boat, arriving soon!

I ordered the car with Walnut wood because I could not live with the fact that Aluminum trim reflects like crazy in bright sunlight (esp. Hexagon one). Consider that before you replace the trim.
I do not plan to keep the walnut trim either, and would switch to M-perf Carbon Fiber/Alcantara Trim. It may be about the same price for Aluminum trim.

what trim do you have on yours? If it is Anthracite wood, I might be interested to buy it off from you, in case you sell it

That's interesting about the aluminum reflecting sunlight... I didn't really consider that. Oh, and mine has the Burl Walnut trim. I do like the silver strips underneath the wood--it gives it a much more modern appearance than what I imagined.

Hopefully we can get a definitive response about whether the previous model trim pieces fit the 2014. It sounds like there's no reason they shouldn't...but...

You should be fine. As for the aluminum reflecting sunlight....

...I don't have that issue. What DOES reflect is the damn HUD area. Grrr!

How to replace the shifter handle cover on F30

This is my first post. This thread seems to have same category as what I am trying to do. I am trying to replace my shifter silver handle cover on my F30 with a carbon fiber one and was wondering if anyone has a step by step instruction on how to remove the silver handle cover plate.

I have just replaced my burleood trim on MY2014 with hexagon aluminum from a 2013 and can confirm it fits withno issue. The center armrest/idrive controller trim bolts the idrive controller a little bit differently but it had no hindrance when installing it. Just different but does the same thing in the end. All other pieces were exactly the same. The i drive conttoller size fit exactly the same as well.

Use a plastic trim tool to remove the large black plastic piece on the top which is only held on with tape. The DIY below doesn't make it clear that you have to reuse the white plastic diffuser from the original knob. IIRC, the screw is a T6.
