Yup, BMW claims the front and rear tire diameters should only differ by ~1% at the most to avoid damage to the xDrive system. The tires should also differ by 3% diameter compared to the original wheels at the most.

For an xDrive vehicle, I think you're better off going with a square setup. It's more practical and probably has more tire options (as a set).

F30 XDRIVE planning to run 235/35/19 front and 265/30/19 rear. Will I be okay with the rolling diameter? I'm having a hard time understand how to use the calculator. If not, what would be a good recommended tire size on a 19" rim?

I ran this for a while, car seemed okay functionality wise. But definitely a lot more understeer, the tires are a little short for the F30, no rotation, and the car follows crowns in the road much more.

What tire setup is yours now? I had these installed today and it seems a little jerky at about 15-20mph and again at about 40ish. Traction control light occasionally comes on- now I'm beginning to doubt my tire size selection. |

I never experienced any lights out of the ordinary. My old setup was 235/35/19 F on 19x8.5 and 265/30/19 R on 19x9.5 My current setup is square tires (245/40/19) on lightweight square rims (19x8.5). Car feels very neutral, much more responsive/nimble, and doesn't follow road imperfections like it used to.

Yeah that's good to know. Shouldn't be the transfer case, I didn't have any issues in the past. Like you said, I get slight jerkiness, but I haven't really driven it enough to really get a good feeling for it. (Maybe about 15 miles so far) Like I mentioned that rolling distance calculator I'm having trouble with understand (does offset really matter?) and what not. Really trying to see if my rolling distance it correct within 1% as I'm Not trying to damage the xDrive system of I'm out of the parameters. I'd rather cough up the extra few bills for new tires rather than a few grand down the road for major repairs. |

BMW sells 225/40 and 255/35 on certain tire/rim packages even on the xdrives. That may be another option if you want to stick with staggered. I think that may be like a 0.25 or 0.5% difference. Alternatively, depending on your wheel widths, might be able to get square tires on all 4 of them, even though you wouldn't be able to rotate them, you would maintain the same rolling diameter.

I would get the 8.5s, add spacers as you see fit. My fronts are pretty flush, I am trying to add spacers to the rear to get a little flush/poke. Or maybe 19x9".

If not, than those tires are quite short for the F3x chassis. I'd go for 225/40 and 255/35 which is an oem fit that BMW specs out I believe.

Planning on doing Dinan Springs. And those are the OEM tire sizes. Maybe I should go with those. I was worried the 255 on the 9.5 would be stretched?

Say 235/35/19 front and 265/35/19 rear? How does a wider rim affect the xDrive system? |

Always been debating this topic myself when I brought wheels for my x-drive car. Ended up going with a square set up 20x9 all around 245/35/20 I believe
Someone told me that the difference between rim needs to be .5 or less and heard a few bad stories about straggered on x-drive so made the decision to play it safe. |

However, maybe 245/40/19 or 245/35/19 square might be more practical and neutral.
