Also premiering in Detroit will be the BMW ActiveHybrid 3 (World Auto Show Premiere) and the BMW ActiveHybrid 5 (North American Premiere). Additionally, the automaker will showcase the first two concept cars from its visionary and sustainable new BMW i brand – the BMW i3 Concept, or Megacity Vehicle, and the BMW i8 Concept, which can be seen in its previous form as the Vision EfficientDynamics in the new film, “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol,” starring Tom Cruise. The sixth generation BMW 3 Series Sedan will be the first BMW to be available in three lines: sport, luxury or modern, in addition to the base model, it features powerful styling meant to represent a fresh interpretation of traditional BMW design cues – with greater visual flair. The BMW 335i comes equipped with a muscular TwinPower Turbo inline six-cylinder engine, while the BMW 328i will feature a new TwinPower Turbo 4-cylinder variant which offers both a dynamic driving experience and reduced fuel consumption. The all-new BMW 3 Series Sedan arrives in U.S. showrooms in February 2012. The 2012 BMW ActiveHybrid 3 is the world's first-ever full hybrid among the compact sports sedans of the premium segment. The 2012 BMW ActiveHybrid 5 brings together BMW’s 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo inline six-cylinder engine, an electric drive system and an eight-speed automatic transmission for the first time. Both vehicles boast an exceptional balance of performance and fuel economy. The first two vehicles from BMW’s new visionary and sustainable brand, BMW i – the fully electric BMW i3 Concept and the hybrid-electric BMW i8 Concept – will be showcased in Detroit. The BMW i3 and i8 Concept vehicles represent the first purpose-built electric and electric-hybrid vehicles to be made primarily of carbon fiber when they become available in 2013 and 2014, respectively. |

Is that a base model there in silver? Do you guys think you could possibly take some pictures of it, and comment on the interior if you get a chance (does the silver trim seem cheap looking compared to the brushed aluminum in the sport line)?

I disagree. The regular Sport Line bumper looks great to me. (That is NOT what's in that silver one in the center of the picture.).
I think the M Sport bumper looks horrible - it looks like a big mouth on the front of the car. |

Hmm...Feb 2012 would be the earliest we can see the F30 in person rather than photo/videos. Do you think your view on the F30 design will change once you get to see it for yourself? Or will it not change? I saw the F20 in photos and in person and it did'nt change a thing about my view on it (it looks ugly), but the F30 looks alright so far...in photos, will that hold up once I get to see it in person?

Sort of looks like a 7/8 size 5 series. For automatic drivers the new 8 speed transmission should be a big upgrade over the 6 peed, which was getting dated.

What are those wheels on the silver one??? They are hideous! They look like they belong on a Kia or or low end Ford or GM model or ... instead of a Bimmer.
The only thing I can figure out is they must be the Style 393 wheels that are standard on the 328i and the photo just isn't that good, so the details of the wheel are all washed out (because the 393's are actually decent looking wheels in other pics). |

I'm hoping bmwusa.com gets updated soon with things like owner's manuals and a configurator. I have an ED order in, but in many cases, I don't know what I ordered. One other request: if you see a sport line in the new Glacier Silver, would you please snap photos of it and the interior? My order is Space Gray with black trim on the dash and black leather with red stitching. I'd prefer silver, but can't quite work out how it'd look with that interior combo. Thanks! |

Yeah, that's what I was pretty sure of, but was in a hurry earlier and didn't have time to look for pics. As I commented, those 393's look fine in the pics you attached where you can see the lines in them, etc. It's just in the OP picture where they look smooth and boring that they appeared so cheap and ugly
