I have a 428 coming in about 2 weeks, and would appreciate any info on removing the welcome warning message (said after putting up with same for 4 years on 125).

I have a Ross-Tech Vag-Com cable here that soon won't be getting any use, thinking I should hold onto it just incase I don't like the 335i 8-).
Good day all from north Queensland also looking at starting to do my own coding and would appreciate any advice and help from other Aussie coding gurus as to where to get a cable from as well as a token and software. Have a number of things in mind I would like to change and try like activating the foglights to do corner lighting and just maybe auto closing of windows sunroof when it rains as I have done in my wife's ride.

Like JamesP, I also have a VAG product (VW Tiguan) in the stable and am fairly knowledgeable with Ross Tech's VCDS (VAGcom) coding.
Thanks in advance

PM sent mate.

There is a problem getting a token at the moment though as tokenmaster apparently is not supplying them at the moment.

If he can't get you a token let me know and I will send you another contact.

Good luck.

Just in case anyone needs one, this is the cable I use.

http://www.one-stop-electronics.com/...&product_id=21

You will find it extremely difficult to pull the plug out of the port if you don't cut the tab out of the back of the socket. You'll know what I mean when you receive your cable.

Thank you for the prompt reply does anyone have an up to date list or a link to a post of what can be "tweaked" off hand. I have already downloaded a list from svache's post

The biggest issue seems to be the inconsistency between versions and how the cheat sheets I've seen don't clarify that eg in a NBT 2014 you might be looking for a value with an extra underscore in its name.

The other trap for young players is activate FA before editing.

Got the car yesterday and had the basics done in about 15 mins.
James.......you fibber!
You forgot to mention the 2 hour learning curve when we played with my car (before you picked up your car).
Having said that, playing with my car myself on the second occasion was much, much faster. Practise makes perfect.

Steve's car took longer but we got stuck on the missing underscore and also the inability to activate.

Also we were going very slow to avoid missing a step and bricking the car.

VCDS is better for those who are a bit nervous as it's much better documented but it also costs $500 for the cable.
Thanks for the heads up James I bought myself a used MicroCAN cable from an ex Golf owner who saw the light and now has a 3 series of some sort.

Do you still have your VCDS cable if so what type and do you want to sell it? I have an Amarok owner looking for a HEX+CAN

It was this one:

http://store.ross-tech.com/shop/VCHUC.html" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">http://<a href="http://store.ross-te...VCHUC.html</a>

Cost me about AUD$400 landed so I guess 50% or current eBay price whichever is higher 8-).

I am thinking of replacing the family car (currently a Forester) and depending on what that is I might still need it.

Sorry guys, now that I have my car and have done my coding, I've not been around the forums much as I have been busy with other things over here (such as anti-shark cull). Have responded to the two PM's I've had for a few weeks...

This has me interested- coding Launch Control into 2012 and 2013 model cars. Anyone in Brisbane interested in trying this out with me? Wouldn't mind working with someone who has coding experience.

Thanks for the help H.

Made my own cable and did my first code change on my 320d M-Sport

Turned off that stupid Nav Confirmation and also set ECO-PRO to be on by default.

Have to admit the old heart skipped a beat when all these warning lights and alarms started after doing the eco-pro change however they all disappeared once I power cycled the car.

Not really sure what else I can turn on feature wise as I have no idea whats off by default.

So any suggestions would be great

No problem whatsoever mate.

Have a look at this thread in which there is a link to the database for coding.

Good luck!

pacman,

Try this link to the BMW Coding Database. It's an excellent compilation of items you can change on your F30.
We should all thank the Dutch guy that put this together.
