Anyone else get the email from them saying they are restoring all customer photos and offering an $20 a year subscription.

I always thought it was really stupid what they did.

Nope, but looks like some news sites have articles covering it so may be legit.

I'm not going back because I refuse to pay a penny. At a minimum they should not have taken down hosting for existing pictures. Even if they started charging to add more pictures after their changeover date, that would have been marginally acceptable. But my old build threads and DIYs are still broken so I won't be supporting them at all.

My guess is that all that bad press they got for trying to extort people for access to their own photos cost them business.
