Coded FEM with 522, without 524, changed AHL_Type to ohne. No errors, lights are working OK, but the only problem is that with the angel eyes.
I don't know if it is a coding problem, or wiring, but I hope someone can help me with this. I don't think it is normal that the angel eyes to stay on for such a long time after I lock the car.

Thank you, and hope you can help me.
I had that issue on one side, but I had an error message. Replacing the driver control module fixed it.

Hi guys,

I own a BMW F31 (European version 318d) with halogen headlights and I'll make the retrofit to xenon.

Currently, I'm collecting the parts and I already have the following:
- Passenger side headlight (Adaptive) (63117259528)
- 2 x Ballasts (63127296090)
- 1 x Led module set (63117398766)
- 1 x ECU module (63117316186)

I'm following this thread as well as kapkanimd's thread and I've the following doubt:
I found the adaptive headlights in Germany's ebay with the part numbers 63117259527 and 63117259528 respectively.
But in realoem.com, the adaptive headlights for my model (3K11) should be 63117338701 and 63117338702.

I already bought one of them (63117259528) and now I'm not sure if it will work with the ECU (63117316186).

Does anyone know if the headlights will work with the ECU and why the parts have different numbers? Maybe is related to the region or something...

Hope I didn't buy incompatible parts so far

Many thanks

You are good to go. The part #'s on the actual headlight housing are different from what shows on RealOEM/ETK.CC/etc. 7259528 and 7259527 are the correct ones for the Adaptive Xenons for the EU market.

Gents,

Does anyone know if 63 11 7 259 525 (526) are adaptive xenons or standard xenons? Seller is claiming these are adaptive, but I can't find any confirmation of that. All I was able to determine is that 523 (524) are standard xenons and 527 (528) are adaptive. No clue on 525 (526). Any idea?

Seen as i don't have access to a F30 without xenons i decided to post up this retrofit for the wiring and pin locations.

After looking at the diagrams for both Halogens and Xenons the good news is that only 4 wires need to be moved in total and 4 new ground wires need to be added into the headlight plugs to get the xenons to work (without the auto level sensors)

This 1st picture shows my notes for the difference between the pinouts for Xenons vs Halogen headlights, as you can see i have marked No 1 -3 & 5 in green as they stay the same and dont need to be moved.

As you can see above on the left of each box it shows Pin 1-12, these are the pins on the headlight connectors, and on the right it shows what pin they are and then in brackets which connector they are located in, the next 2 pictures are to help you pinpoint these connectors out.

Now to simplify things further all you have to do is add 2 new pins on each of the headlight connectors in pin no 7 and 4 and bridge/join this new cable to either pin2 as all three of them are all ground cables and join together.

There is no other work that needs doing on the headlight connectors as it is easiest to move the other wires on the FEM module, pins 9-12 on the headlights will no loger be used but can stay as they are as the new xenon headlight will have no pins in those places so they will not cause any troubles, also if you do decide to ever put your original halogens back these wires will be untouched.

Next you need to move some wires in you FEM Module

Move pin 26 from connector A173*2B to ---> pin 53 in connector A173*3B
Move pin 34 from connector A173*3B to ---> pin 41 in connector A173*3B
Move pin 49 from connector A173*4B to ---> pin 53 in connector A173*4B
Move pin 37 from connector A173*4B to ---> pin 54 in connector A173*4B

Once you have done this you can wire in Level sensors (I will be posting wiring diagrams for this over the next couple of days) or you can leave them out and possibly do some custom coding to manually adjust the headlights.

I don't have a car available to do the coding so either i will try to post that part once i have done it or hopefully someone else will try and to do the retrofit and post it up, I can however help with the coding and possibly do a tutorial if someone is willing to code their car and send me their files and i can modify them and send them back and check if everything will be working properly.

Below i will be putting some pics up of the wiring diagrams just in case someone wants to have a look at them

DoNi

First of all, congratulations for the amazing work

I will replace my F31 halogens with xenons soon (the only part missing is one Driver module for headlight 63117316186).

I will use your tutorial to install the xenons but unfortunately, the wiring diagram links are broken

Can you please share the wiring diagrams again?

Many thanks!

Hi everyone,

Finally, I got all the parts for the retrofit and I'm almost ready to start.
My only concern before starting with the retrofit is the FEM harness change.

I have the German version of the F31 and the tutorial from kapkanimd is written for the US version. It seems pretty much the same, but comparing to Doni's post, there are two different pins:

US version (kapkanimd):
Move pin 26 from connector A173*2B to ---> pin 53 in connector A173*3B
Move pin 34 from connector A173*3B to ---> pin 41 in connector A173*3B
Move pin 51 from connector A173*3B to ---> pin 53 in connector A173*4B
Move pin 39 from connector A173*3B to ---> pin 54 in connector A173*4B

EU version (DoNi):
Move pin 26 from connector A173*2B to ---> pin 53 in connector A173*3B
Move pin 34 from connector A173*3B to ---> pin 41 in connector A173*3B
Move pin 49 from connector A173*4B to ---> pin 53 in connector A173*4B
Move pin 37 from connector A173*4B to ---> pin 54 in connector A173*4B

Can anyone confirm if DoNi's scheme is correct for the EU version? As anyone tried it?

Many thanks

Muchas gracias! This is exactly what i need!

I'll be on vacation next week and I will use some of the time to do the retrofit.
Hopefully, the wiring will be the same as yours, because we both have the LHD EU version

Pin2) GND-Ground- OK
Pin3) Low/High Beam-OK, lamp on and stable
Pin4) GND-Ground- OK
Pin5) ???? do not work (nothing really happening there)
Pin 6) Shutter for High beam-OK
pin 7) Suppose this will be the next GND pin
pin 8) ???? do not work

I bought the complete headlights (all units in) and according the first look, everything seem to be OEM, more-less new and should work. My Problem is that i cannot activate the LED Halos/ Engel eyes by coonecting the voltage to one of the free pins in the bi-Xenon socket. Is it only the combination of one particular pin and the ground pin, or there is Pin combination needed to activate them?

Thank you in advance for help
I have EXACTLY the same problem. I bought all but the headlight units new, and only the LED halos do not work.

Any news on this?

The LED angel eyes are controlled by the drivers control module. The only thing thats directly connected to the harness is the xenon, high beam shutter and parking lights.

Is is necessary for the drive control module to be programmed to a specific chassis number? Or should it just work plug and play?

Should be a plug and play. Regardless, you will have to VO code 522(xenon) and 524 (adaptive).

So I did, I just read out the ECU and following errors were showing:

Coding error driver module (TMS) Links | 8040F0
Coding error driver module (TMS) rechts | 8041F0
Wrong version installed light-control unit | D90D16
Missing LIN slave driver module headlight links | D90D2F
Missing LIN slave driver module headlight rechts | D90D32

Any ideas?

I'm assuming you VO coded 524? For the error "Wrong version installed light-control unit | D90D16", there should be 8 types in FEM BODY 3064 => LCE_BEL_LIN_VAR. If you're not sure which type you have, try them all and see if one works. Maybe this may fix the other errors you have?

I think so, I did not code it myself.
But I will have it checked. Thanks so much for the help!
