Catted downpipe

How much more hp and tq could I get with an aftermarket catted dp opposed to the stock catted dp? And is it worth buying one. I understand catless would create more power but I'm still within the warranty. Any input is appreciated, thanks.

OK thanks for the input. I'm also selling my stock exhaust off a 2014 328. What would you put a price on for something like that. It has 20k miles on it.

what is your reasoning between catted and catless and how it affects warranty?

BMW doesn't want to see a catless downpipe on any of there cars if they are going to do any warranty work. One of my buddy's had a 128 with 450 whp and he had a tough time finding anyone who would even work on it and it wasn't even under warrenty. Not sure exactly how it affects the warranty but it does.

my thinking is that unless it is oem, an aftermarket catted down pipe would be frowned upon as well. maybe not as much as a catless but still a warranty risk nevertheless. also, some catted dp can still cause a CEL. personally, i'd still do a catted because i don't care for the unfiltered exhaust smell. there's a warranty risk with any aftermarket modification.

Did you ask your dealership? Some of them are fine with mods

From my experience, most dealerships will not care about your mods unless these mods are the reason behind your dealership visit

Jb1 will not hide the code ... If you have high flow downpipes, get a JB4

If you are keeping your car stock and only using pump gas, get the JB stage 1

Does the Catted downpipe produce a turbo spool sound like the catless downpipe? Also does the Catted downpipe produce a smell? I read a few saying it still produces some smell.

a downpipe is still a downpipe, I doubt your dealership would be fine with a catted one if they are not mod friendly

have you sold your exhaust system yet? I recommend you check how it sounds with the upgraded downpipe before getting rid of it - stock BMW exhausts are really not a bad design.

if you are still not happy with the sound, an axle-back makes more sense then replacing the whole exhaust system.
