Signed for a 335ix

Hey guys!
I have signed for the 2013 335iX sedan yesterday! its going to be my first german car and after driving a 08 accord coupe i fell in love when i was test driving the 335i 6speed. I drove the auto and the 6 speed and i understand the auto is a bit faster but i went with the stick because i felt i had more control of the car and i just felt good driving the stick. I gotten the metallic blue, with black interior, M package, 19' m wheels, premium package. I won't get the car for a week but all I've been doing was trying to look at many blue 335s and the more i look at it, the more i like that colour. I was debating between the white and blue but the reason i went with the blue was i was some what tired of the white since I've been driving a white car for 8 years now...lol

I do want to ask what kind of winter tires i would need, i live in kitchener, canada and we get lot of snow here. Sales man told i need 225/45R17 94V tires but I'm not sure if i should purchase another set of wheels for winter or replace the summer tires with winter. 19" winter tires will cost money compare to 17'..any advice?

This car costed me $74k out the door but this is because we canadians pay more for cars..

thank you guys, cuz I've been reading on this forum for about 2 weeks now and gathered much info i could...this car is supposed 2 replace my blue R6 after i got into an accident but hopefully i can still ride my bike next year but not as often..

The salesman is wrong, 225/45R17 tires will not fit on your 19" m wheels. If you want a tire of that size, you will need to get 17" wheels (which will probably fit over the brakes on the car). This will cost more (and be uglier) than just getting some 19" winter rubber.

You can go with a smaller wheel if you want, but I don't think it's really necessary. After all, you do have xdrive on the car. You could even go with an all-season tire (and avoid switching rubber twice a year), though dedicated summer and winter rubber is preferred. If you do get a dedicated set of winter wheels, go for an 18" wheel; 17" looks like crap.

19" snow tires are fine. I have 19x9.5 wheels on my M3 in the winter. Snow tire choices in 19" are limited, but you shouldn't have any trouble finding them. I assume the car has the 403M 19" wheels, correct? If so, these wheels measure 19x8 front and 19x8.5 rear. That translates to 225/40R19 front and 255/35R19 rear. You can get Blizzak LM-60 (H-rated) or Pirelli Winter Sottozero Serie II Run Flat (H-rated) from tirerack. Make sure you get a matched set (don't mix different tire models).

Congrats on your new 335i purchase !!

Providing your 335 M Sport does not have the M Sport brakes option, then you can use either 17" or 18" winter wheels/tires. IF your car has M Sport brakes, you must use 18" wheels (or 19"). Since you live in a snow belt, it would make sense to invest in a dedicated set of winter wheels/tires for driving in the November-April Ontario weather. If you do this, you will extend the tire life of your 19" summer performance tires.

You are a lucky guy to be able to get your hands on a 335i Xdrive so quickly. The 335i RWD is much harder to find and the long wait is driving me nuts !!!

Thank you so much guys!
I'm going to use the same rims and put winter tires on after I pick up the car, the dealer wants close to $4000 but i found Bridgestone for around $1400 on tire rack. A week ago, I had no idea I was going to purchase this car. I still
Don't know why I bought this car, so I'm still kinda shaken of this purchase.

All my friend's r telling me I should switch it to 5 series since I'm already paying $75k but for $75k I would b getting a basic 5 series vs a fully loaded 335ix.. It's my first German car and I can't wait to bring it home later next week!!!!!!!

Again thank you for your help Re: the tires!!!!!

335 is a lot more fun to drive than a 5 series! It's way too big. And all the tech you can get in the 3 is fun, I'd be sad if I had to give up the navi and HUD to get a big 5.

First off, congrats on the order! I just placed my order Saturday!

Secondly, I also went with the 19's with Performance/Summer tires and so I'll need to get winters. I've also been on Tire Rack and I would strongly consider getting dedicated rims for your winter tires. Once you realize you can just change them out yourself rather than having to pay someone to mount them, balance them, move TPMS sensors, etc....not to mention the pain of having to bring all of the tires to the guy to do this, it just makes sense to spend the $1000 on a decent set of rims.

Just food for thought. And Happy Canadian Thanksgiving!
