looks like "MERMAID ACE" is the next shipping vessel for those who did not catch "ETERNAL ACE"??? Departs 10/07. Arrives Bremerhaven 10/28.

Mine is on the same boat...but my dealer is in LI. I wasn't told mine was build in SA...hmm..mine was finished in mid Aug. Waited almost a month for a boat.. I called the 800 and spoke to rep. Its on Eternal Ace, Mitsui O.S.K. Line. Differ from W&W Lines. I don't think it stops in Germany.

yep. we're on the same boat. good thing the boat is direct to US.

21 days transport time instead of 41 days if going to Germany first(assuming when it switches boats, there's only a few days of wait)

Need a little bit of help guys. It seems that the extent of my delay is a bit unusual. My 340 finished production on August 5th and it is still sitting at the port in South Africa. The only thing I can think of is that my dealership is in Colorado and the boat delay may be due finding a ship to have it sent to the west coast of the U.S. instead of the east coast. My CA said he is going to find out some details next week. Any ideas? Thanks for your help.

According to my research, WW does not have anything scheduled for SA build as of right now. Assuming BMW is using Mol Ace as primary carrier for all SA build, our cars will be on "MERMAID ACE" , which departs on 10/8 and arrives Bremerhaven on 10/28. From there WW will distribute our cars to east coast and west coast.

If anything I really prefer to wait for "ELEGANT ACE" which departs on 10/17 and goes directly to east coast on 11/9. But then again we do not have any control over it. And plus All these info is only based on my limited research ability.

yeah, marinetraffic is only good if the ship is close range to land. vesseltracker will have satellite tracking but it costs money. you can always check the updated schedule for the ship here: http://www.molroro.com/MOLVesselSchedule.aspx

its gonna be a few more days before cars can be delivered! VPC to process car(M-F), freight truck to ship it. Dealership to PDI it and detail it. even after it get to dealership, bmw hq still needs to fedex the CO (certificate of origin)paperwork before car can be sold.

Its almost the weekend and monday is a holiday. so, more delays.

problem is that technically, my dealer said a CO, cert of origin is needed to be overnight fedex from bmw hq before its legally able to be sold. and that dealers only can request for one once the car actually lands at dealership. that what my dealer told me a few months back

Nope...it takes them a whole day tomorrow to offload all the cars off the carrier. VPC needs to inspect the car for any damages. The car transport will take 2-3 days to dealer. You probably get it next Saturday 10/17 at best...I'm thinking a 1.5 week for me......I'm hoping to get it before 10/24...I have a wedding reception to go to that requires driving.. or call car service..

I'm curious don't they have that ready on hand via VIN# , it will be a sold vehicle already, so once the car lands on shore, after inspection, transport to dealer, ready for pickup.

I didn't about this part when I brought my first bimmer..I track the ship, the car stay at the port longer due to snow, transport to dealer, dealer called me, your car is here & ready. Drove my trade-in car, move the stuff/plates over to the new car. Sales guy spend 30 mins going over the car with me....I let it rip of the parking lot, on to the highway smiling... that was 8 years ago...my memory a bit foggy..

VPC works M-F, they work weekends only on special occasions when really busy. The cars can be off-loaded from boat at port anytime, dock workers work 24 hours. VPC guys will take it from dock when they start their shift. The boats don't get delayed going to next port.

Monday is holiday so who knows if VPC/Truckers/Dealer's PDI/BMW CO/FEDEX guys work.
