Professional Detailer - Recommendations?
Hi folks,
It's not that I am lazy (honest!), but a new baby (in addition to the car) is occupying most of my time. Looking to have the car detailed, it needs it ;-) , and wondered if anyone has a recommendation for the Surrey/Sussex/Kent area? Thanks in advance! |

+1 For posting on Detailing World forum. You'll have your hand snapped off! The good ones post pix of their results or can email you pix of what they do. And your car will look brilliant!

I am looking in to this very subject at the moment so would be interested in your conclusions. Taking delivery of an F31 MSport in January. At the moment I am intending to use All that Gleams, based in Guildford. I read a lot about them and saw their work on the detailing world forum. I am based in south west Surrey.

I cannot recommend this guy enough: http://www.hampshirevehicledetailing.co.uk/ Paul is based in Sussex and can travel to you if required. A few years ago I got an old Jag XK120 DHC done with him for a serious overhaul after a poor respray job. It was a present to my step dad (the detail, not the car) and all I said was that I wanted to 'borrow' the car for a few days. When I returned it, he was reduced to tears at the difference. An insanely good finish and a lovely bloke to boot!!

Been thinking of a detail myself, and as a present for her indoors. ATG looks interesting and Guildford isn't that far from me.... but then D3 looks good too. Decisions decisions...

Any thoughts on which products are best suited for the f30/31s? I have so far been looking at Opti-coat, Swissvax and Auto Finese Tough Coat. Still very much in the learning process about the merits of each one. I know that I don't want to do this too often, could get very costly so need something that lasts.

I had Gtechnic C1 and C1.5 applied to mine. I also requested the glass and leather package. When i collected the car, the surface was like looking into a mirror.
I had it done in October, and a couple of months later, when there is rainwater on the car, it sits there in 'globules'. When driving, i can see the rainwater 'run up' the windscreen! Very impressed with is so far. Have a look at the Gtechnic website and there are some videos on youtube showing how well water repels off the surface. There is most likely an agent in your area. |

If you don't mind; how much did that set you back?
Seems a few of us could do Guildford... Perhaps we should see if ATG are interested in doing us a discount for a few vehicles; get the trade in for them etc

I paid £180.00 all in. Extremely resonable, he was working on the car from 8:30am - 10:30pm

I am up in Scotland, so not local, but I also found someone on the Gtechniq website. He came to my dealer and worked on my car for 12 hours (over 2 days) before I took delivery. The water still beads off all surfaces, except tonight as everything has frozen solid! I paid extra for this person to take the wraps off the car and do a full 'new car' preparation: he was the first to touch the exterior (after the PDI) before applying the treatments. This came to roughly the same price as the coatings BMW wanted to apply. Money well spent IMO.
