Lemon Law
Is there a lemon law in Canada?
I been having problems with my car since day 1. As soon as I got home the car had a check engine light. They tried fixing it two times and its still there. Is there a way for me to get another car? Thanks |

That's terrible Bat. Just keep making a stink at the dealership. Spending this kind of money on a car, you should be happy. Makes me a bit worried as I only have 400km on mine. No lights yet ...fingers crossed.

Thats the trouble with this forum, reading and then worrying about everything that can go wrong. Like a car wreck for me....don't want to look but i do. Wish i never had.

Let's just hope BMW assists and fixes the OP's problems in good time. No new car owner, especially one that owns a BMW, should go through these issues.

Problems
CEL disappeered before I got to go back to the dealer. I opened a case with BMW Canada like that if I get other problems they might be able to help me, but for now they can't do much...

http://www.consumerhandbook.ca/en/co...torial-offices In Ontario, OMVIC is also available as a middleman between you and the dealer: http://www.omvic.on.ca A question you may have is why is the dealer not willing to replace the car, even one that has been as troublesome as you describe. My guess is that the dealer will be on the hook for a new vehicle and the manufacturer is not willing to help out, at least until everything else has been tried. And this is the key with issue. If the car is inoperable, or operates erratically that's a problem. If there is a light on the dashboard, that may not be considered a problem serious enough that either the government or OMVIC will intervene. To be honest, a CEL is typically a warning about something going wrong with the fuel-air mixture. So, either the air intake or the exhaust has a problem. Even a minor one (like a small leak) will trigger the warning. Have you tried another dealer? It may not be a faulty computer but one that's telling you there is indeed a problem. Reprogramming it will take time and you end up with a computer that will detect the same problem. |

I know what you are trying to say but there is always a solution. Too many panicky and problem threads here. Make it look like these are brutal cars. Way more than any other forum i have been on. Mine was brutal in the end. I got rid of it early as i was worried about all the shi& that was going to happen. 12 of 31 threads on here are about complaints/problems. 3 of 40 on Audi S4. Just sayin.......

It may seem frusterating but try to work with your dealer. There is no doubt that this should not happen but thats what warranty is for. With a couple of CELs and trips to the dealer its not unreasonable at this point. However, if it escalates i would think your dealer will try to make it right. I ve seen this before and dealers will eventually swap to a new unit for their good clients. The trick is to be nice but also dont take any excuses.
good luck |
