Coding for 6NR BMW Apps?

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Assuming I have the FSC code, can someone tell me how to enable 6NR BMW apps? Tried searching but could not find what needs to be activated through ESys. Thank you in advance.

If you shoot Shawnsheridan a PM I'm positive he will be glad to help you.

Shawn is the Yoda of coding and has helped me on many occasions.

You would have to add 6NR to your VO, write VO to car, Import and Activate the 9C FSC Code into Head Unit, then VO Code Head Unit / Combox.

I've added 6NR to the VO, imported and activated the FSC Code. Can you tell me what is involved in VO coding the Head Unit/ Combox? Is is editing the FDL using the CAFD file and adding the following?

A4A_REMOTE_APPS = aktiv - Adds "Apps" under Main Menu = > Connected Drive with Sub Menu BMW Apps (Facebook, Twitter, Web Radio). If 6NR is in the VO, or enabling this with no valid 6NR FSC Code, it will override CONNECTED_DRIVE = aktiv setting and ConnectedDrive on Main Menu will revert back to BMW Assist.

Where do I find the listing for the A4A_Remote_Apps?

VO Code:

Connect => Read FA (VO) => Activate FA (VO) => Read SVT (VCM) => Right-Click on ECU (the ECU itself not the underlying CAFD) => Select CODE.

Shawn, then is that the end of the process after I click CODE or do I still need to go find the CIC HU and Combox and edit additional options?

That's it. The benefit of VO Coding is that based on the option codes in the VO, it automatically makes all the required FDL Code changes needed to support those options.

Coded the ECU as instructed but had two errors and now I have the drivetrain malfunction and fuel system malfunction indicators on. How do I clear these or do I need to visit the dealer?

VO Coding the Head Unit and Combox should not produce any errors, so I am not sure what happended.

You can try clearing them with Tool32:

Assuming the fault condition no longer exists, to clear the fault code.

1) Launch C:\EDIABAS\Bin\TOOL32.EXE
2) Hit F3
3) Load C:\EDIABAS\Ecu\F01.PRG
4) In the "Select Job: F01" window, select FS_LOESCHEN_FUNKTIONAL
5) Hit F5
6) "Results" window should show "JOB_STATUS = OKAY"

Hopefully, Problem Solved.

Note: fs_lesen_funktional only read fault codes, FS_LOESCHEN_FUNKTIONAL will delete it.

Recoded the ECU and this time the coding worked without any errors and now I have BMW Apps showing under ConnectedDrive menu.

Unfortunately, the drivetrain malfunction would not go out. I guess it was a fluke that the malfunction happened as I was coding it. The car is at the dealer now.

You just add 6NR to your FA and for CIC VO Code HU_CIC & CMB_MEDIA, or for NBT VO Code just HU_NBT.

But BMW Apps requires a 9C FSC Enabling Code issued by BMW AG for your VIN be imported and Activated in the head unit fist. Do you have the FSC Code?

How does one find that FSC code? Does BMW sell them or something? If they do, I'm sure they'll do the coding for you as part of the purchase... so what's the use case for doing this yourself?

(sorry, I know it's an old thread, but it's a related question)

BMW may, or may not sell you a "6NR BMW Apps Retrofit". It depends really on the car's build date and equipment. If they do, and they performed the official retrofit, they would program (not code) the car accordingly. You of course will pay considerably more to have them do it then if you did the work yourself.

And in cases where you cannot get official "6NR BMW Apps Retrofit", you can usually obtain the FSC Code from various sellers, and perform an "unofficial "6NR BMW Apps Retrofit".

So, you do it yourself to either save money, or out of necessity when you can't get an official "6NR BMW Apps Retrofit".

Hi Shawn, is it also possible to activate 6NR BMW Apps for HU_Entry & CMB_MEDIA?
I didn't find any information about that in the net.

Greetings

Kitster is correct. You need 609 Nav Pro in order to have 6NR Apps.

Have any of you guys gone back to the dealer for a software update after importing an activating the 6NR FSC code?

I know from factory, a CIC equipped F30 with 6NR would have 6NF and 6NL as their Bluetooth option. Will there be any conflicts with 6NH and 6NR written to the FA on VCM?
