Drivetrain malfunction
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com Just got home from the store around the corner, and a warning came up, and you guessed it, drivetrain malfunction. F30 sport, 6mt. STOCK. 15k for miles. Nothing tune wise. Wasn't racing it, just coming home with the milk. Stop, turned off, restart after waiting, twice. Still same. Got her home limping, sitting parked. Local dealer closed till tomorrow. Ideas? |

Mine did the same thing and I have 5K miles on mine and its sitting at a BMW Center. They said it was a turbo sensor failure or something to that effect. Mine did it after connecting the JB4 to my lap top. I had to remove the JB4 to take it in and I had to drive the autobahn at 60 mph because that was as fast as it would go. I had Opals passing me. My car is a 2012 335i Sport Line 6 speed manual that I usually drive 140 mph when on the autobahn and one thing i have to say they need to stiffen up the suspension on these cars.

I've had this same problem. I have a 328i and i got the drivetrain malfunction. I have no tunes to my car. Just drive it regularly. Got pulled over by the cops (no front plate) on an extended trip and when I got back in the car the malfunction popped up. Car didnt' drive bad on the rest of the trip, but the next day the A/C started blowing just hot humid air and I had absolutely no power after 3rd gear (auto). I guess this is what they call limp mode? Car's been in the shop for almost 2 weeks now. They said it was just a wiring issue. Of course there was also a paint quality problem on my front bumper so they are taking a while to fix it.

Ouch. Dealer said it was a wiring harness on mine that had gone bad. I don't see how just a wiring harness could cause all of the loss of power, rough idle, and hot A/C. Hopefully it's fixed and doesn't come back!
