Your point assumes they won't negotiate after the sale. I agree you have more leverage at new sale than later, but there is a mark up either way, so the point is, list price of the warranty isn't really going up, you just MAY be able to get a better deal if you buy it up front.

To me, the bottom line is it isn't worth it unless you're pretty confident you'll keep the car past the factory warranty. It's not a safety net that goes away, you can always get it later..

But to each his/her own. I'd rather not loan BMW my money (even if it's only 2500...) just to ask for it back in 4 years and not get all of it back.
