I had this issue on a 2003 530i with non-sport seats. I took off the back plastic panel on the seat. It exposed the seat frame and I used plastic ties to pull part of the metal frame that put pressure on the lumbar area. This helped.
Ooooo. Interesting
The hardest part on 2003 was get the back on and off.
Hmm
Different car. The back removal maybe easier.
Hmm
You could ask the service department to remove it and look at the gram and see if any part could be apply pressure to the lumbar region

I not sure I have any photos from that time anymore.
I think I'll do that after a few years- once the car is out of warranty

Why wait if your back hurts?

Good luck.

I feel your pain.
I always thought that the non-sport seats are identical to the sport other than the side bolsters.

I'm six feet, 240 pounds. The only front seat I've ever been in that was more comfortable was my '93 Eclipse, which coincidentally also had the only rear seat more uncomfortable than that in my 328, before I added the lumbar supports.

You may also just be setting the seat wrong, causing yourself to unconsciously lean forward or back, or hunch down a bit. If I had to guess, I'd guess that your seat is too low and too far back. Put your shoulders back against the seat and stretch your arms to the top of the steering wheel. What part of your arms rests on the wheel? If the top of the wheel is in your hands, you are far from the wheel. If your wrists land past the wheel, you are too close. Your wrists should be on top of the wheel.

Even setting your seat too low can cause posture problems while driving, impacting your knees and back. How much distance is there between your head and the roof when sitting up straight against the seat back? Make a fist and put it on top of your head, vertically (fingers stacked upwards, not forwards). There shouldn't be a ton of room left between your fist and the roof.

And finally, it's a car seat, not a recliner. If you recline it too much, it may make you feel cool, but you won't stay comfortable on long drives. Too far forward and you stay hunched, also bad.

Setting this stuff right isn't just about comfort, it's also about car control and visibility. Set everything wrong, and you will not be able to see what you should or have full control of the wheel.

I know. I'm wondering if I have a spine problem. But when I sit in other cars, I'm perfectly fine. I'm confused lol. I'm looking at back supports on Amazon.
