So, what car are you buying next?
I'll kick off.
Not a BMW. Lousy customer care. F30 too big for me and F20 a bit unattractive. Not an Audi either. Probably a Porsche Cayman S or Merc A45 AMG or a VW Mk7 Golf R.

This will make you see red....my passenger seat had the smallest of pin holes in the top layer of leather. When I took the car in for other stuff, I commented on the hole, just for the dealer to document that it was there from day one in case it grew in size. Got a message to say they had replaced the whole seat squab leather
When you see what Elms BMW have done for me, there is no question, NO other OEM would look after their customers as well as Elms have. I can see many years of BMW's from Elms as a result. |

You're lucky. I had to deal with the Service Department of Berry, Chiswick and they were most unsupportive. However, their Bodyshop is superb.
Regarding superb service, VW West London are amazing. Have always looked after me brilliantly. Took by GTI for Service and MOT yesterday. Fixed nail in tyre and waived the charge, plus free MOT. They discovered a tiny oil leak from the turbo. I'll take it in again and if it's still leaking, it will be fixed under warranty. Regarding Mercs, every Merc we've had has been totally fault-free and the Dealer Service Dept superb. The Audi A4 we had was riddled with problems. Needed a new loom, gearbox, suspension, front seats ........ But they fixed it all with a smile.

The W211 E Class Mercedes I had from new was by far the most unreliable car I have ever owned (well leased). It had to have a new turbo, new fuel injectors (twice) and still had sporadic electrical faults they just couldn't fix and kept going into limp mode on a long drive.
The CLS I had for a year before the F31 was faultless though, they seem to have improved. |

I certainly won't be buying another Merc any time soon. Most disappointed with the whole Mercedes ownership experience - Mercedes and their dealers appear more concerned with the customer satisfaction surveys than actually delivering a quality product.
It was time for the Merc to go when I drove my wife's Mazda and realised that it was silent compared to the rattles emanating from the dash of my C class! I could rant on - we all have different experiences. |

I think Mrs B would have a fit if she knew I was already looking at the next car so in the interests of my own safety and in case she reads this then I will say I am not looking at a next car
Although, the way things are going round here I reckon an X5 with the rear boot-seat option or an R Class Merc. With 2 little ones and another on the way there is going to be no way we can all go out in daddy's car. 2 car seats can fit ok but there is no way a third will go in. Bearing that in mind though, and assuming I can get away with some slick negotiating skills with Mrs B, then the car would just be for my use so I can pretty much get away with whatever I want..... Answers on a postcard please

Mr Berry. Ripening well are we? Well I never. You should put a knot in it. Stop buying Mrs B those sexy negligees and you'd be much better off carwise. Because of your bedroom antics you will become a road hog, thereby causing suffering and congestion whenever you hit the road. Tally-ho! What-what?

This will be our third in as many years, the due date for this one is within days of the eldest's 3rd birthday. As for cars, I think I may be ok for a while. Daddy has to have the cool car, mummy can have the bus. I intend to make the most of not being able to take the kids out and enjoy my wheels

Sorry, no sex, birth or contraception stories to share, so I'll have to answer the original question.
If Dick Lovett sort my suspension noise problem (which is getting noticeably worse now) then I'll be looking for a 440d. That little AMG rocket looks interesting - could be a proper hoot. It will certainly upset BMW with their 1 series and might put the willies up them one the new M3. |

We found out about our expected 3rd within a couple of months of me ordering the F30. Luckily there's a bit more of a gap, with the other 2 being 7 and 3 by the time the 3rd arrives.
Desperately hoping I can squeeze them on the back seat with one booster and a full on infant seat...... |

However as the years got on it was always daddy's car getting used. The chocolate on the seats, the drinks, empty packets of crisps. It was a loosing battle and they have got away with lots... Now with the new one and they are little older at 9 and 11, they will listen to daddy! PS the wife wanted a 3rd, one of my reasons not to is the Beemer doesn't fit 3 on the back properly. She wasn't amused!!!

Going back to the original question, too early to think of the next car plus i'm quite attached to the dangley bits if I even mention the next car to the missus but this is what I was looking at before going with the Beemer again...
New Mazda 6 that is about to release (Cheaper and had every option ticked) Ford Kuga (as the 4x4 alternative) Ford Mondeo (couldn't understand why this cost more than an M-sport!) Golf Mk7 Audi A4 Black Edition (was a close call between them, but the interior was awful imo) Honda CR-V (another 4x4) Engine is rubbish though No disrespect to any E9x owners but i think the F30 styling should have been the car after the E46. The E90 just did not do it for me...
