Autoweek gives 2016 BMW 340i glowing reviews.

http://autoweek.com/article/car-revi...-xdrive-review

Excerpts:

"Note that your opinions may, of course, vary. You may prefer your "perfect" cars bigger or smaller, faster or hairier, and there are fantastic choices from multiple manufacturers that will satisfy. But for balanced, premium sports sedan perfection, I dare you to find a better car than the 2016 BMW 340i.

That doesn't mean I won't keep looking…"

--Andrew Stoy, Digital Editor

"One thing I noticed when running around, when really pushing this thing hard during acceleration, it hesitates between gears. Not a big deal if you’re not going to track it, and you really shouldn’t -- it’s too nice inside to tear apart. If this is the only complaint I can find, maybe this is closer to being an ultimate driving machine than people give BMW credit for anymore."

--Wes Wren, Associate Editor

Obviously the editors haven't driven the E90, the new Camaro, or the ATS

Where was this review earlier this week? I already set mine on fire thanks to C&D.

See how smart all 340 owners are? (Or waiters?)

But it ain't as good as it could have been if it had been designed by "our" community.

I don't know what this refers to. The 8-sp ZF is, by far, the best automatic I've ever driven. Lags between gear changes are extremely quick. The only difference I notice when accelerating hard in Sport+ is that the shifts themselves are far more abrupt (which is actually nice and authoritative).

They tested the manual 6 speed, not the 8AT.

Admittedly though, I'm not sure I understood what he meant referring to a manual, unless he meant engine hesitation between gears.

Same here. No idea what the hell that line means. I think you just called yourself a shitty shifter Wes.

You should sell your F30 and get an ATS, Camaro, or a nice low mileage E90. Report back and let us know how it went.

Just having fun.

Hell will be completely frozen before I would even consider a GM car (and I worked at GM for almost 10 years). I've already had an E90 and yes the steering feel was better but overall I feel the F30 is a better car and I have the crappy pre-LCI model.

So I've had fun.

Pricing aside, getting behind the wheel of this thing is ridiculously enjoyable. Riding around the city, you’re welcomed to the I6’s burble as you row through the six-speed, with its scream still there in the upper register. It’s not quite M3 levels of ostentatious, but the point will be heard: You’re in a hot Bimmer.

This is description does very well capturing the essence of my ED driving experience in a manual 340ix.
The hesitation under hard acceleration I only noticed going from first to second gear. The power cut feels like you are hitting the limiter, without actually hitting the limiter. Shifting a fraction earlier and some practice helped.

Experienced this as well but it is intermittent. Guessing my shifting isn't exactly consistent. Could it be inherent inconsistency in the CDV? Also noticed the 2nd gear synchro doesn't consistently engage smoothly. Perhaps my trans needs evaluated.

When you have stability control and traction control fully enable it won't let you engage the next gear at that high of rpm so you don't lose control. So the computer interferes

Sport+ mode you can notice a difference. Sport+ with everything turned off, there is no hesitation.
