Will BMW do this too?

Just came across this: http://www.autoblog.com/2014/08/31/i...usaolp00000588

(Infiniti is planning to switch back to a hydraulic steering set up).

Wonder if BMW will do this too? If they do this for an LCI, who would trade in their car? I probably would, if it is affordable at the time.

Hell, if they don't I may even trade in for a Q50 instead!

Overall there has been very little negative feedback from the majority of their buyers. I even read one guy on one of the forums post that his wife complained about the steering effort on the F3x when it is in sport mode. With the E9x it was not at all uncommon for BMW newbies to question whether the steering effort was normal.

Evolution in software will continue to make improvements to the point it will be at least as good as if not better.

I can feel already marked (improved) difference between MY13 and MY14 feel.

Putting EPS into context, we in Europe were getting EPS in some of the E9x models, several years ahead of the F30. Folks were driving them, not even knowing BMW had moved to EPS. Was only when the F30 came around and all the publicity that many realised they were already driving EPS.

Many users like the lighter steering, as has been commented on. I'm a long term BMW driver and now in an F11 535i with EPS, I prefer the normal/comfort steering settings over the more weighted, read "damped" sport setting.

Plus as in car systems get more integration, EPS is a tool that can be tuned. Parking assist and lane departure illustrate the point.

I drove that car for a week on a loaner and the issues with drive by wire are completely blown out of proportion. Once you set up the steering like you wanted it I was super impressed. The problem is most don't have the sense to change the settings and experiment, my favorite was quick and heavy
