It could be easily done to creat an extension with a jumper in between... i think the current design was for convenience. I agree though a plug would be a nicer option if one has an easy method for routing the wires.

12v power is used so JB can remember your map settings.
so you wont have to select map 1 every time you start the car, or if you use anything other than 0 or 1 it'll remember that map |
