Storing for the winter

Hello,
I decided to store my 440i for the winter and was wonder if there is anything specific I need to do before closing the garage door. I planning on keeping it in storage for about 4 months.

Thanks in advance

4 months isn't that long in the world of car storage. You don't really have to do anything, maybe hook the battery up to a trickle charger and/or cove the car if it's dusty (although car covers can come with their own problems). For reference, my summer car has been in the garage for about a month and a half now and will be through March or April. I haven't bothered to do anything with it and it's been fine in the past (i.e. last year. This is the second winter I've had the car)

A battery maintainer is a must.

+1, some people also overinflate their tires by a few psi, especially if you are not going to check on the car regularly and are never going to move it.

I'm a little worried about a trickle charger because the car will be stored about 30 minutes from my house. Can I just disconnect the battery?

Edit: just found this in my garage.

That thing honestly looks pretty cheap... i would invest in a good one that you know is not going to overcharge, short out, etc.

That charger is 25 years old that I used on my Triumph TR-6. Any recommendations?

FWIW the official BMW one is a rebranded CTEK. Based on that (and a huge thread discussing them in this section), that is what i went with. Exact one i purchased:

Make sure whatever one you get is compatible with AGM batteries, and do not run recondition on AGM.

You don't need to spend that much for a maintainer. This is 1 amp, which is all that's required:

You wouldn't want to use it to charge a dead battery, as it would take at least 3 days, but it provides more than enough juice to prevent the battery from discharging while the car's not being driven.

When winterizing I like to fill the gas tank completely and add some fuel stabilizer. Todays fuels containing ethanol etc goes off very quickly and may cause gumming up of the fuel system.

Montreal in winter is dry as a bone. Even if there's six feet of snow on the ground the humidity remains low until May.
