Yes..... order... well depends on your order... if you're ordering an M-Sport model then the wait seems to be longer from order date to delivery because the M-Sport models don't seem to be online yet for Aus deliveries....

I've been advised that my car (MSport) has entered production... so I guess they will start to trickle through...

Sorry, From my order, on March 9, 2012 to delivery. No idea. Still waiting for a build confirmation. This wait and lack of real communication is dragging the excitement down very quickly at tis time. From build to delivery is what I stated in above post.

I asked the question about mine today. The dealer never got back to me. Happy for you that your build has started. Maybe mine has as well. Hoping on the same production line.

Nope... It only just entered production when I heard about it i.e. status 150 or 155 can't remember...

I put my order in back in March... so it has been a long wait with very poor transparency from the dealer and BMW Aust

I placed my order 3 weeks ago and rang last week to add another option and it was fine to add it, call them yesterday to add one more final option and this time the dealer called me 10 hours later to tell me it is now too late as car has gone into production, crossing fingers it's here in 8 weeks but I was told end of November.

Maybe you just missed the August build...I think all August builds are being delivered mid to end of October. Lets hope its early October.

Garage List
I ordered mine on 4/Sep/12 and was told two days later that production would start the following Monday (10/Sep/12). I called up on the Monday asking to make a change (since Piano Black trim had been added on the website as an option for the Luxury Line) and was told I was too late and the car had already gone in to production.

I've already got my VIN from the dealer though it doesn't show up yet on bmwvin.com or on the shipping sites. I'm hoping I was lucky enough to get the car done during the September run, but I'm prepared for the worst. The dealer is still giving me an ETA of 22/Dec/12.

Omg piano black trim is available on the luxury line now... Damn I had to settle for anthracite. Annoys me so much that salesmen know of upcoming features and not mention anything about them. On my X5 they never told me that in 1 month after buying mine they were changing the front air intakes and the color of the the angel eyes. They could have said something and told me to wait a month for a newer look.
Your dealer said delivery for you on 22 December. I sure hope the Mayan calendar is wrong.
I can see the future.. 2 weeks after delivery... "BMW Australia will be offering 0.5% finance interest on all car sales to encourage newer buyers into their cars" and maybe in the very small fine print "vehicles must be ordered and delivered during the unattainable timeframe of the month of December 2012 only"

Maybe not. I purchased mine from dealer stock, so I've never really taken much notice of the VIN. I always assumed it was a SA build, and likewise assumed all F30s coming to Aus were SA builds. Anyway, in a moment of boredom I decided to decode my VIN and what it showed was:
Region/Country (chars 1-2): "WB" - Europe, Germany
Plant (char 11): "F" - Munich

Now that I think about it, it was probably one of the first F30s in the country. It was complianced in Feb 12 around the time of the initial launch. So, maybe the first batch to Aus came out of Germany?

Yea that's probably right cos the SA plant didn't come online for the F30 build til later. So the initial F30s that dealers had were of German build. Have a look on carsales at the moment. There's quite a few dealer stocked F30 that have VINs originating from Germany

My production started on the 2nd August 2012, delivered on the 2nd October, however my build plate says July 12 Build and Compliance is September 12 bit unsure about why though.

Your conclusion is correct, but a lot of VIN decoders on the internet are dated. For example, all current 3-series have "WB" as chars 1-2 whether they are built in Germany or S.Africa. Here's an old VIN decoder from 2009:
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...22#post5254022

The following 2 VINs are from dealer cars on carsales.com.au. When entered into the WWL shipping website they reveal the following:
WBA3A52040F253661 - shipped from Bremerhaven in January
WBA3A56000NP03452 - shipped from Durban in July

https://att.2wglobal.com/gstattweb/o...uickSearchPage

If you enter your VIN into the WWL shipping site, you can confirm your car's shipping details.

Thanks for that. It looks mine shipped out of Bremerhaven in Nov 2011.
