Don't forget Dinan. Depending on the hp gains, I may go with them.

True, Dinan is pretty sweet but I love procede and cobb.

Quick question here: has anyone checked out the intercooler in the F30 335i yet? Is it the same low-performance tube-and-fin with plastic end tanks and ribbed connectors or have they improved their design? Dinan S2 (or anyone else's tune) with a more efficient intercooler will produce more gains than without it by keeping IATs down and improving airflow. I checked with a couple FMIC vendors and so far, there's nothing out yet for the F30. A couple of them said they thought the N55 FMIC from the E9X series would work, but I wouldn't make that assumption.

The 2013 335 M Sport that I test drove last week had a bar and plate design, but the end-tanks were probably plastic (I couldn't see them).

Anything BMW designs can't be as good as Dinan/ETS/AMS, or as efficient, how hot is this:

I gained a lot of extra power from adding an ETS intercooler to my Evo, so I'm taking a similar approach:
1. PPK/Dinan tune
2. Dinan intercooler (or aftermarket unsure).
3. DP with HFC.

That should at least get me to 400 at the wheels...

I have the ETS 5" unit on my E92 that is being picked up by its new owner tomorrow. I'm going to do the FMIC and probably Dinan on this car, but not going to do DP unless I can find an HFC-equipped unit. Too many repercussions with catless, not to mention it amounts to tampering with federally-mandated emissions controls. Not fun if you get caught.

So is that AMS unit in the picture specifically for the F30?

I just posted in the General section, ETS is willing to create one for all of us, but needs a donor car in Vancouver WA - PLEASE IF YOU KNOW ANYONE IN WASHINGTON STATE, we can get this done.

Aren't the ETS intercoolers awesome?

I've run both the AMS and ETS in an Sti and Evo, respectively.

LOL~ have you seen actually seen N55 dynos? FBO /w E85, meth and/or Race gas are barely hitting 395 and this is on piggies that make WAY more power than PPK, dinan, or even cobb for that matter on the N55...not to mention fully catless DPs which make much more power that HFCs..I think there may be 2 guys or so who barely tipped 400whp with every mod posible for the N55 currently.

I'd safely say that PPK /w IC and HFC DP will get you to about 340whp give or take on a dyno jet if you're lucky.

Yep, that's the one...but I will do FMIC and software before a DP. Want to make sure my servicing dealer won't spin a rod bearing when they discover it.

That's what I was thinking. Maybe he meant torque? With all that he should be at or above 400 tq to the wheels.

possibly, the N55 is a torque monster for sure...but it is well know that the weakest link is the small turbo that simply runs out of breath on our N55s.

this was the world record N55 dyno not too long ago (might still be?)

OK, so what's your point here? Where did we say we were looking for fast-and-furious power levels? I've never dyno'd any of my cars - I'm not that fixated on pure numbers. For me, it's all about how the car feels, not what it dynos at. That kind of stuff is for kids and people who race for a living. People pushing FBO, meth, race gas and all that on an N55 should just buy a Camaro/Mustang/Challenger and be done with it - they're in an entirely different league.

absolutely has nothing to do with anything you've posted or said other than "shiva's" post...

"I gained a lot of extra power from adding an ETS intercooler to my Evo, so I'm taking a similar approach:

I'm simply helping educate him on what's currently possible considering the current tuning culture for our cars and that I've had a few BMWs; this is my 2nd modded N55. He also mentioned those 3 small tunes would get him to "at least 400whp" which is what this is all based on.

Also, Im a working professional adult with 2 degrees, owning my own businesses, and also am an instructor at several schools and part of bmwcca and am an avid road racer and circuit training nut at willow and laguna seca; when I can find spare time that is...so if that classifies me as a street thug racer ala "fast and furious" then I guess that's cool with me
