I understand the OP. I just traded in my F30 335i 6MT, not only because I had some electronical/noise and oil consumption issues with it. But it just felt a tad lazy through the bends and in accelleration. And I came from a F10 535i which felt like a whale on wheels. 'Each to their own', so they say.

I just wanted to get that BMW feeling back. And I got it back 200%. But trust me. No car is flawless:
2 adults can sit in the backseats though cramped, the trunk/boot is fine, better than I expected. The ride is harsh to many people. The engine sound at 2500rpm could be a bit annoying to some people.

Just let it be. I enjoy my car. It's my car, not the neighbours/other people's choice/car. Enjoy your car too. Great dd. Nice chassis and steering, beautiful looks. Great quality and brand.

Cheers
Robin

I'm with many others. Don't mod it. Enjoy it. While you have it, realize that the money you're saving on fuel, and by not modding it, and not trading it in prematurely, can be put into the options on your new car in 4-5 years. It's STILL a great car. Resist the urge to sell yourself short.

Thats easy for you to say, when your 335i hit 60 MPH from the stop light, the 318d is probably hitting around 30 MPH

I wanted a 335 but couldnt find the right build and needed to get a car right away and was impressed by the n20/26. I knew regardless that not even an m3 would give me the speed my previous car did. Wanted a comfortable daily driver that handles well. It was nice but I quickly realized that im more of a feel every bit of road and the surge of power type of car guy. I am already counting my days in getting into a smaller car with more power a la the new 2 series in an //M model or and mperf variant.

In the meantime, i put myself in denial by going out there and posting similar times as ppl in frs's n55s or anything that is supposedly faster. Lol. Its hard to get all of them as some ppl are better drivers but still makes my denial more enjoyable haha.

Actually I would say that you made a good choice with the 318d. I have long been a fan of buying the base model of any car - as you get all the development that the $100k 335i has for half the money - and thats a bargain.

Also buying a diesel - means there are going to be lots of easy and cheap tuning solutions that you could apply to at least get the same power and torque as the 320d - if not more.

AC Schitzer - do an upgrade that results in 126kW for the 318d.
http://www.worldcarfans.com/11210014...chnitzer-video

And finally - having the lowest powered 3-series - means you can never lose -every-one expects you to come last at the lights.

Oh, just a little bit harsh there, don't you think.
I have a 320d on loan today as my car is at the dealers having some minor issues dealt with.

I gotta say the 320d is a really fast car. Yep, lots to torques, but it can get up and go very well. So based on this experience, I would say the 318d would be doing at LEAST 32 MPH!!! hehehe.

Seriously, newbmwuser, if you still have the car, stick it in Sport mode and go! It can't be that far behind the 320d, can it?

If u got remorse just change it.. I've change 2 cars in the same year before.. I found that i wasn't really enjoying driving so decided that losing 10k in depreciation over a year was worth it lmao... Dumb decision it was.. i shoulda kept it for 2 years.

Thanks X-Men. My post was actually tongue in cheek. I am aware of the performance data. Who couldn't be after reading so many great posts from so many well informed people on this forum.

While you are at it, yep, the 318d isn't too far away from the 320d in straight line performance.

Thanks Man.

Damn that's slow.
The 318 is pretty much a speed of a minivan.

Times have changed massively in 10 years...

Consider that a new CLS63 AMG which weighs 4200 lbs and is a massive family sedan can run 10 second 1/4 miles with a tune. This is considered drag car territory... 10 years ago a Ferrari 360 was incredibly fast, today a tuned 335i would spank it.

Traded in your F30 335 on what? You sound happy now, so I'm missing something.

With auto, xDrive and a body in the trunk? My 328 will do 0-60 in about 5 seconds. I could probably even do better with some light mods. Just sayin.

theres allot of BMW fans and theres even more haters. These cars are not slow. Not the fastest but not slow. Ultimately you buy a BMW for ride quality and every 3 was supreme for a practical luxury sports sedan.
