If you fold the mirrors up after washing it dumps all the water out

I then use DigiHUD [free from play store] which gives me a digital speed in mph or kph, + compass+average speed+ max speed+distance traveled. I plug it into a miniusb plug that plugs into the cigarette lighter [I'm old and don't know what this plug is called now that smoking tobacco is not cool].

BTW: my Android phone also has a navigation program that shows me in print how far away [in km or miles] the next turn is, and names the street/road. This is important info for me because I know what street name to look for and how far away that turn is from me as the distance decreases. Is there a way I can get the BMW navigation system to show me this? It sometimes speaks the distance and street name once, and then not again until I am about 100 meters from the turn. This kind of sneaks up on me and then I have to cut over a lane or two quickly as I look at the road signs to check which specific turn to make.

My number 8 button is programmed to turn shuffle on or off. If I'm listening to whole albums off my ipod, I dont want to shuffle, but on playlists I don't want to hear songs in the same order all the time. Programmed button makes it easy to go back and forth.

I just realized I can make the sunroof go from wide open to tilted open with the same single press of the tilt open button. For some reason I thought I had to close the sunroof before pressing the switch to tilt the sunroof open. :

If you leave the wipers up in the "service" position (i.e. in the winter to keep them from getting buried under snow and ice) and then drive off and lower them once you start moving, the wiper washers are rendered inoperable for some random period of time.

Service dept spent 3 days "troubleshooting"
When I mentioned it happens if the wipers are left up for example overnight they were able to replicate it on my car and other F30's on the lot.

No fix available and I was told to "lower the wipers before moving the car"

Random interesting point. There must be a reason and I presume it's to do with an assumption that the screen/washers will be frozen if you've set the wipers up?

Does it stop the washer motor and just wipes or doesn't do anything when you operate?

If you want a faster fan speed than "Auto" allows

Click on the vent direction button. Then the fan speed can go higher. I no longer have to freeze to get more air volume. Took me over a year to figure this out LOL.

probably has been mentioned here before (no way am i gonna read through 66 pages)...

but i do like the 'hidden' 12v socket in the passenger side just behind the center stack. it was in my e92, and while in traffic, i decided to feel and see if it was still there in the f30... it is!

Helpful hint:

Navigate to the option you want with the iDrive controller, such as trip information, but don't click on it, just highlight it.

Now press and hold one of the 1-8 buttons on the dash for a couple of seconds, until you hear a beep. That button will now do whatever it is you were highlighting- from anywhere in the iDrive screens.

With your home address, for example, navigate to Recent Destinations, highlight your home address, and press/hold a 1-8 button.

For radio stations, navigate to Radio Presets and highlight the station on that list as it'll set your HUD in the Preset list.

Another Hint:

If you don't remeber what you assigned to number, just gently rest the finger on the number button, but don't press, it has touch sensor and it will show you assigned function in the top line of iDrive.

My presets:

1. Radio presets (i.e., I created a list of all my fav stations: AM/FM & SAT and added them to a list and then assigned that list radio preset #1. So I hit #1 and then use my thumb wheel on steering wheel to navigate through stations and select one I want--and I can do it all with HU display!)
2. Climate: I use parked car ventilation all the time, and this is quickest way there.
3. Snap in Adapter
4. Nav
5. Sport display
6. Split Screen (I'm too lazy to scroll through iDrive)
7. Home address: No matter where I am, I press it and it shows me the way home.
8. My Wife's BMW profile (also assigned to her key fob): Let's say I had to much to drink over dinner with the wife. She hops in driver's seat, presses the preset and all of her settings are entered: seat position, side mirror positions, climate presets, radio presets, EVERYTHING! Next time I hop in, I just press preset 8 (her preset 8 is my profile, and vice versa) and all of my setting are restored exactly! I don't have to adjust my seat, I don't have to adjust my mirrors, I don't have to change the station or turn down the heat. Brilliant!

That is Can't wait to do that as well...

This is life changing, thank you all for your input!

I was hoping to be able to make a switch turn the DRL's on and off, didn't work on my 2013...

Signaling left with Active Cruise Control on will cause the engine to rev up slightly, in preparation to pass slower traffic in front of you.
