Car History 1. 1976 Mercury Cougar XR7, 351 Windsor, Weight Distribution felt like 80/20. That thing would start plowing while I was just thinking about turning. 2. 1981 VW SciroccoS. First new car. Loved that car, 1.6 litre I4, 76bhp and it used every single one of them. An indestructible car, loved it. Koni shocks, cut springs, rode and drove like the proverbial go cart. 3. 1987 Mustang LX 5.0. A real bear, especially coming out of the under powered, front wheel drive, Scirocco. I spent at least 6 months driving sideways until I got used to the torque, all 300 lbs of it. 4. 1992 VW GTI, 8 valve. Disappointingly slow but a good car. After 14 years of living in Manhattan: 5. 2006 Audi A4. 2.0T Quattro, great car. A lot of fun to drive, felt a lot more powerful than it was, and it was a veritable laser on the highway. Very easy to drive very fast. 6. 2008 335i. Great car, non sport model, still handled like a dream, loved it. 7. 2011 335i M Sport, Lemans Blue/Saddle Interior, best car I've ever owned. Period. Wish I had bought that car, perfect right out of the box. Current Garage 8. 2010 Buick Enclave. Utility vehicle to move stuff around, mainly my bass amp/guitar, and band PA equipment. Love the Buick, perfect for what it is. 9. 2011 328 Convertible, (Wife's car), love the steering. Traded her 2008 G35X, that car did not age well. 10. 2013 335XI MSport, Manual, almost every option on the order sheet + Dinan Shockware. I like it, don't love it, too soft for me, miss the hydraulic steering. No more X-Drive for me. I miss the sport suspension. Shockware helps, had a nightmare experience with Dinan springs, had to go back to OEM (Check threads). Next 3 may be an M or a 4. I'm hoping BMW offers a M335 like the M235. They have built the M235 the way I like them from the factory. Last edited by P-Bass; 07-24-2014 at 03:43 PM.. |

Unfortunately the dealers here in SoCal charges an arm and a leg and they don't even want to touch anything near MSRP. Even my go to guy couldn't do it. Until then I'm stuck with the 335 again. |

24, turning 25 in 2 months. Cars are much more expensive in the UK than in USA so unfortunately I don't have the luxury of buying a new car but will be looking to get a 13 BMW 330d in September.
Car I drive at the moment is VW Golf Tdi Mk5 |

Hey I notice on the history lists here that a lot of people are driving/owning M cars and then switching to another BMW after like a 335i, is there a reason for this? Thought you would want another M car after owning one?
I have not Owned an M before, but it is one of dream Cars, so someday.

I don't remember ever answering to this thread, I know there was one about age but I never put anything about car ownership history:
30 years old: 2000 - Bought a used 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix coupe that had 30k miles on it, that car was a tank and lasted me without any issues for 165k miles. My favorite feature of it was the fact that the dash, presumably built with supplies from Rubbermaid, could be taken apart while driving with the use of one hand. By the time I got rid of it, the transmission was on its way out though. The car was heavily modded with intake, exhaust, cam, tune, all that good stuff. I saved two years (worked part time jobs) in order to afford the down payment on that car and made all the monthly payments through high school. As a graduation gift my parents were kind enough to just pay it off so I didn't have to worry about making payments in college. Very grateful for that. While the car was an absolute turd that handled like a boat, to this day it's my favorite car not for the way it drove but just for nostalgia purposes and all of the crazy fun road trips I took that car on through HS and college with friends. It was also the first time I really experienced the sense of accomplishment you get for working hard to earn something you really wanted. 2007 - Bought a new 2007 Infiniti G35S sedan fully loaded. Had 12 miles on the clock and coincidentally, the car was purchased on the 7 year anniversary of buying my Grand Prix, that wasn't done on purpose, just something I noticed when I was signing the paperwork. I loved that car aside from the rough ride on crappy road surfaces and the high NVH levels at higher RPMs. The car was very reliable and never gave me issues in the 70k miles or so I ended up putting on it. I actually ended up selling this car to my mom who really wanted it so she owns it now and now and is still problem free. 2014 - Got the 2014 BMW 335i in my sig. Hope to get an M3 in 2017 or so since that's been my dream car since I first saw a 2000 BMW M3. Fun fact, the BMW marked the return of me driving a car with head up display....my 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix also had a head up display. Last edited by fecurtis; 07-31-2014 at 02:59 PM.. |
